We are looking for a passionate and energetic Cultural Curator for Colombia, to join Spotify’s Editorial Team team based in Bogotá. In this role you will be part of the Music team in Colombia and the Latin America region.
In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with our Marketing and PR teams to build and amplify the most culturally relevant stories happening in the world of music in Colombia as well as in the world of Latin music.
You will contribute with your expertise to all sorts of music-related projects in the company, including music storytelling, playlist curation and cross-functional work with different teams in the country, the region, and beyond. You will bring deep cultural and music insights to craft highly engaging music stories and experiences for listeners, and you will help drive artist discovery through a large editorial ecosystem of playlists and tools. You will maintain a candid editorial voice while demonstrating a teammate spirit, a passion for analytics and will have your ear to the ground in the Colombia and Andean music community, with special attention to fandoms, trends and virality.
As a music editor, you will be encouraged to make data-informed decisions. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music!
What You'll Do
- Be a culture guide and proactively identify music trends, stories, and opportunities for Spotify.
- Focus on creating and amplifying relevant music stories for our consumer-facing channels.
- Work cross-functionally with other teams to fulfill company strategic goals and projects.
- Support local and regional Editorial teams with on-platform music programming.
- Listen to music from a wide range of musical genres and identify trends and potential story ideas.
- Understand and gain insight of consumer behaviors by analyzing trends, data and analytics.
- Collaborate with global and international editorial teams on a variety of projects and programming initiatives.
- Be an ambassador within the company for artists from Colombia and the region, helping them grow their fanbase through internal workflows.
- Work closely with product teams to integrate human music expertise and cultural insights into product development and features.
Who You Are
- You have at least 3 years of experience in music storytelling, whether through work in digital media or the music industry, where connecting and serving digital audiences with music content, artists and/or creators in today’s music landscapes has been an integral part of your job and missions.
- You are incredibly well plugged into the Colombian and Latin music landscapes. You are the person in your group of friends who knows artists and genres before others do. You are extremely well aware of local music scenes and movements in Colombia, particularly those attracting young audiences.
- Demonstrates ability to identify emerging music trends.
- Always up-to-date with what’s going on in terms of relevant social media conversations, the memesphere and beyond.
- Well versed in effective digital storytelling formats for social platforms
- You are not afraid to experiment.
- Possess a perfect level of written and spoken Spanish and English.
- Lives and breathes music every day and have a deep knowledge of music and culture, with a focus on Colombia and a good understanding of the Latin American music landscape.
- Broad understanding of music from across all genres and styles - from Latin Pop to Urban, Género Popular, Vallenato, Música Mexicana, Rock, Indie and other Latin and (secondarily) non-Latin genres- you enjoy it all and have a keen sense of what makes music appropriate for different situations and an ability to identify great songs to fit.
- You are numerate and adept at analyzing and interpreting data and using it to set goals.
- You pay attention to details and organisation, have a strong work ethic and a friendly, warm attitude.
- Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of - and experience with - Spotify as a user and fan.
- Good understanding of digital platforms and the constant need for product iteration and evolution.
- Able to multitask and remain focused on several projects at once.
- Finally, you're a great teammate, adapt well to change, and always have a positive attitude.
Where You'll Be
- You will be based out of our Bogotá office.
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
