Position Summary
- The Operator is responsible for railroad construction using various types of equipment, including
backhoes, excavators, tampers, regulators, spikers, tie handlers, and others as required. As an
Operator at Track Tech, you play a critical role in ensuring all equipment is properly maintained
and in optimal working condition at all times.
Previous Experience
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment is required.
- Experience operating equipment specifically for railroad construction is preferred but not mandatory.
- Preference will be given to candidates with both heavy equipment operation experience and railroad construction expertise.
- A documented work history highlighting relevant experience is required for consideration.
Key Responsibilities
- SAFETY
- Ensure on-track protection is always provided when working foul of the track, in compliance with 49 CFR Part 214.
- Adhere to railroad and facility operating rules and safety standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your team—accidents and incidents are not acceptable.
- Integrate safety as a core value, performing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) before tasks.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per company and customer guidelines.
- Immediately report all incidents to your supervisor and HSE manager, participating in safety investigations, as necessary.
- Always maintain full compliance with 49 CFR Part 214.
Equipment Care and Maintenance
- Conduct routine servicing of equipment according to manufacturer protocols.
- Monitor equipment performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Manage all company property with care, minimizing unnecessary wear and tear.
- Secure and safely store equipment after use.
- Perform onsite repairs when qualified and within the operator’s scope.
Damage Reporting
- Immediately report any equipment or property damage at the time of occurrence.
- Submit detailed reports outlining the nature of the damage and contributing factors.
Repair Documentation
- Accurately complete reports for repairs and maintenance needs.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule necessary repairs promptly.
General Expectations
- Foster teamwork and maintain clear, professional communication across the organization.
- Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with customers, supervisors, peers, and employees.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and actively support the workforce.
- Utilize company resources, including vehicles and credit cards, strictly for business purposes.
- Track Tech provides all PPE required to perform duties as assigned except safety toed boots and prescription safety eye protection.
- Maintain a personal set of basic tools for routine equipment, maintenance and inspections.
- Be prepared to travel extensively for assignments, which may last from a few weeks to several months. The company covers home travel expenses every 4 to 5 weeks.

- Track Tech Inc. prioritizes safety for both employees and clients. As a contractor regulated by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), we adhere to stringent safety protocols,
- including:
- Background Check (49 CFR Part 40): A review of the last two years of safety-sensitive work history is conducted for applicants applying for roles that require compliance with FRA safety regulations.
- Drug & Alcohol Testing (49 CFR Part 219): Pre-employment, random, reasonable cause, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing are conducted in compliance with FRA requirements. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
