We’re hiring for a Quality Mechanical Inspector position in Los Angeles, CA. This is a Part-Time opportunity, working 2-3 days a week. If you have a passion for mechanical products and a keen eye for quality, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections—visual, dimensional, and physical—on components, assemblies, and raw materials throughout various production phases (including in-process, final, and first article) to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gauges, and profilometers to validate part conformity.
- Conduct surface plate inspections and statistical lot sampling based on quality requirements.
- Apply sharp visual inspection skills to identify workmanship issues and product defects, including damage such as burrs, scratches, loose fasteners, dings, and inadequate edge distances.
- Identify and categorize nonconformities and confirm that corrective actions or rework have been properly executed.
- Examine and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and compliant with applicable standards.
- Audit and confirm the integrity of supporting documentation to ensure alignment with industry and commodity-specific quality requirements.
- Cross-check shipping documentation for accuracy, confirming part numbers, serial numbers, change notices, and final destination data are correct.
- Safeguard inspected items by verifying appropriate packaging, preservation, and handling prior to movement or delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
- Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards.
- Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation.
- Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
- Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
- Must be ITAR compliant.
$29 - $33 an hour
$29 - $31 an hour
