The Financial Reporting team at StackAdapt is responsible for overseeing technical accounting, management and external reporting, and partnering with P&C and Legal departments to manage the company’s equity plan. The team plays a pivotal role in the organization by gathering valuable business and industry insights as well as ensuring US GAAP and ICFR compliance.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, the Lead Technical Accounting Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, as well as providing technical expertise on complex accounting matters. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze transactions, assess their accounting treatment, and communicate findings to key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting, excellent analytical skills, the ability to conduct research and prepare position papers independently, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


StackAdapt is a Remote First company, we are open to candidates in North America for this position. 

What you will be doing:

    • Serve as the subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, and business combinations.
    • Research and interpret accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements (SEC) to ensure compliance and assess the impact on the company's financial reporting.
    • Analyze complex transactions and contracts to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and document conclusions in technical accounting memos.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to evaluate the accounting implications of business initiatives and transactions.
    • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and updates, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely adoption and compliance.
    • Provide guidance and training to finance and accounting teams on technical accounting matters, promoting understanding and awareness of accounting policies and procedures.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
    • Partner with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, providing support and explanations for accounting treatments and financial disclosures.
    • Support special projects and initiatives as needed, providing technical expertise and financial analysis to support decision-making.

What you will bring to the table:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical accounting roles, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate environment at a publicly traded tech company.
    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
    • Experience with researching and applying complex accounting standards and regulations.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
