The Quincy Institute (QI) is seeking a reporter with a high degree of motivation and initiative for its online magazine, Responsible Statecraft.
 
RS is a daily news and views outlet that publishes both staff and outside contributors focused on breaking news, Washington politics, U.S. military and defense, and global geopolitics.

Responsibilities

    • The candidate will closely follow the daily and weekly news cycle, tracking issues relevant to the ongoing foreign policy landscape.
    • The candidate will assist in helping with the editorial work of Responsible Statecraft and produce original reporting content, for RS.
    • The candidate will also assist with managing and driving engagements on RS’s social media platforms.
    • The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a keen interest and some expertise in the foreign policy work of realism & restraint foreign policy and their interest in working in a dynamic and ambitious environment.

Essential Qualifications

    • The candidate should have background knowledge and interest on key issues related U.S. foreign policy.
    • Familiarity with issues related to U.S. foreign policy and ongoing policy debates in the United States.
    • Familiarity with restraint and restrainer literature.
    • Have strong writing, reporting, and research skills, including basic familiarity with AP style
    • Superior writing skills are essential, particularly experience in a journalistic setting — writing for a publishing platform or working on a school newspaper/magazine.
    • Experience with editing work.
    • Fluency in driving engagement with social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines with great attention to detail.
