Job Title - Section Manager, Design Services, Substation
Location - Austin, Texas
Job Type – Hybrid, Onsite

The Design Services Group is seeking a Section Manager (Substation) for our Austin, TX office.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the supervision of the Substation Section reporting, directly to the Design Services Department Manager. Provides both technical and administrative supervision to the section to ensure the technical, administrative, direct labor and schedule targets of the section are met in accordance with applicable professional standards, design control procedures, company procedures and technical design guides.  Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, budgets and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs.

What You Will Be Doing:

    • Responsible for daily coordination and supervision of assigned members.
    • Assign and coordinate project priorities, workload planning, staffing schedules, and assignments.
    • Coordinate and monitor direct/indirect labor utilization among section staff members. Ensures that resource loading is forecasted for the section.
    • Responsible for quality control of work produced by the section. Oversee that staff execute to standards, procedures, and policies established by the organization.
    • Provide input to Department Manager on hiring, salaries, promotion, transfer, demotion, and termination of section members.
    • Assist with staff development within the section. Recommend to Department Manager opportunities for section members to participate in training and career development activities.
    • Support the Department Manager in monitoring the financial key performance indicators for the section including utilization, administration, and project performance.
    • Work with project managers and senior section members to support business development and marketing activities.
    • Ensure that project assignments for the section are completed on schedule and within budget parameters.
    • When applicable, serve as the Graphics Lead for key department or section projects.
    • Perform other functions delegated by the Department Manager.

Required Qualifications:

    • Associates degree in CADD, drafting, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
    • Normally a minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
    • Must be very proficient in the use of Microstation and AutoCAD and/or software relevant to the design service section.
Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
