Job Title - Traffic Engineer
Location - Tampa, FL
Job Type – Hybrid, Onsite
Stanley Consultants is seeking a Traffic Engineer for our Traffic Engineering Department in our Tampa, FL office. This person will also have the ability to be co-located with D1 and D7 client requests for support. The successful candidate will enjoy: developing technical solutions, fostering close client and staff relationships; providing creative approaches to project development; and maintaining a personal dedication to serving client needs and mentoring younger engineers.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Prepare and/or review traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies, intersection design studies, safety studies, multimodal design and planning documents, and technical report writing.
- Prepare and/or review traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections.
- Review roadway design plans and permitting applications, including site development and roadway plans and traffic impact analysis studies on behalf of state and local agencies for compliance with all applicable criteria.
- Coordinate directly with state and local clients to provide traffic engineering design support upon request, plan, organize and complete work assignments and tasks.
- Coordinate with Traffic Engineering Department Manager to ensure all assignments are completed as directed and maintain project schedules.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems.
- Florida Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Florida Professional Engineer (PE).
- Direct experience with FDOT, local county, municipal, and/or developer driven transportation and traffic engineering, operation principles, and analysis techniques including the Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM),Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies (MUTS), and the Florida Design Manual.
- Experience with TSM&O concepts, terminology, principles, and practices.
- Experience with Identifying, analyzing, and solving traffic operations problems.
- Working knowledge of SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISTRO and other traffic capacity and analysis software.
- Working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD. Exposure to VISSIM, CORSIM, or other advanced software packages preferred.
Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
