Stanley Consultants is seeking a Substation Department Manager to work in our Denver, CO (Centennial) office.
 
This position is responsible for the management of the Substation Department for the Substation Group in the Centennial, CO office. This person manages all department functions including personnel administration, project quality assurance, project team support, technical organization support, and business development support.

What You Will Be Doing:

    • Provide recommendations for department plans, programs, and resources, including staff budgets and capital expenditures. Execute approved plans to meet line organization objectives.
    • Recommend hiring, salaries adjustment, promotion, transfer, demotion, and termination of staff members.  
    • Supervise and develop department members to ensure the achievement of established department and individual goals and objectives. Specific activities include the development of the Performance Management Process for all department members; identification, recommendation, and implementation of training; and development and maintenance of VRP plan information and details.
    • Recommend discipline lead appointments for project team assignments, reporting on department status, results and performance including quality and schedule is also included.
    • Maintain a balanced workload within the department.
    • Responsibilities also include project management and engineering of power delivery projects and drafting and reviewing scopes and fees for proposals.
    • Provides support for the resolution of technical and coordination issues between disciplines or departments.
    • Communicates with clients and interprets their needs. Ensures the successful completion of the project and develops project progress reports on a timely basis.
    • Perform other delegated functions as assigned by the Group Manager.

Required Qualifications:

    • Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
    • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience
    • 5+ years as Lead or Manager of small to medium sized groups of engineers and designers
    • P.E. (Professional Engineering License) or obtain one within one year of hire
    • Experience as Lead or Manager of projects involving cross discipline groups
    • Experience in dealing with a wide range of client, agency, consultant, and team representatives
    • Demonstrate the ability to provide overall strategy and technical solution development for project needs and challenges
    • Possess the skills to find solutions to a wide range of issues which are sensitive to the pressures of schedule, budget and quality products and the ability to work well and lead team members a must
    • Experience mentoring and guiding individuals or groups of lesser experienced engineers and designers
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
$136,100 - $181,025 a year
(Salary range for CO location)

Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
