Position Overview:
We are seeking Systems Engineers to join their site reliability engineering (SRE) team in Chantilly, VA. As a Systems Engineer - Site Reliability Engineer, you will provide critical support to multiple cross-functional project teams, ensuring the reliability and performance of large, user-facing applications and services. You will play a key role in monitoring applications, coordinating environment changes, and implementing technical and process improvements to enhance application resilience and performance.
Active security clearance with full scope polygraph required.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor applications and coordinate environment changes to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Recommend technical and process improvements to application teams to enhance application resilience and performance.
- Provide tier 3 support to debug application and infrastructure issues, coordinating responses to incidents to ensure systems are restored promptly.
- Conduct root cause analysis and technical deep dives with project teams and platform engineering teams to prevent recurring issues.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to automate deployment and maintenance tasks.
- Utilize cloud-native tools to build and sustain applications in AWS cloud environments.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Support applications written in Java, Python, JavaScript, or Ruby on Linux-based platforms.
- Manage relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and document databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr), including managed services like AWS RDS or OpenSearch.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile environment using Git-based workflows.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with 3+ years of experience for senior level, 8+ years for expert level, or 13+ years for subject matter expert level.
- Proven experience with cloud-native tools and infrastructure as code (IaC), preferably using Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or JavaScript.
- Experience managing relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and document databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience providing tier 3 support for application and infrastructure issues.
- Familiarity with Git and Agile methodologies for software development.
- Active security clearance with full scope polygraph required.

Salary Range:
- Senior Level: $155,000 - $180,000
- Expert Level: $210,000 - $228,000
- Subject Matter Expert Level: $250,000 - $265,000
