Department Overview: 

The Data Solutions Architect team at PG&E is at the forefront of driving long-term enterprise-wide data solutions, target state architecture, and overall excellence in the application of data, analytics, and information. Charged with developing strategies and roadmaps, this team aims to enhance data utilization and analytics maturity throughout PG&E, ensuring the company remains a leader in the digital utility space.


Position Summary: 

As the Principal Data Solutions Architect at PG&E, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company's digital utility initiatives. Collaborating with business and technology stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of enterprise data and analytics strategies while championing innovative approaches to solving complex business challenges. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Solutions Architecture, you will lead the development and execution of architectural guidance, standards, and practices, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

    • Own the Information Architecture and related Technical Architecture for designated sub-domains.
    • Document business capabilities essential for achieving the mission of the Data & Information Architecture Team.
    • Ensure adherence to architectural guidance, standards, and practices among IT and business stakeholders.
    • Develop and execute strategies for introducing, evolving, and retiring capabilities as needed.
    • Maintain architectural guidance documents, artifacts, and governance processes.
    • Support technology strategy, planning, and roadmapping activities.
    • Participate in IT strategy development and IT architecture design to support business objectives.
    • Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.
    • Contribute to reliability and capital planning efforts.
    • Provide technical support and collaborate with product teams and customers.
    • Monitor system performance and drive improvements in reliability and infrastructure.
    • Perform data analysis and predictive modeling for capacity planning and performance optimization.
    • Drive continuous improvement and standards development initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.

Qualifications: (Minimum)

    • 7+ years of relevant IT, data management, business intelligence, and analytics experience.
    • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, AWS Lambda (non-negotiable).
    • Strong soft skills for collaboration.

Qualifications: (Desired)

    • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
    • Experience collaborating with line of business stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in analytics and data management principles.
    • Familiarity with enterprise business architecture principles and industry-standard frameworks.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Knowledge of agile methodologies and ITIL practices.
    • Experience with various data architecture and BI technologies.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Experience with UX research and design thinking.
    • Familiarity with Snowflake and Elastic Search is a plus.
    • Prior experience in the utility industry is advantageous.
