The Role:
Aspiration is looking for a reconciliation analyst to join our growing team. The core competencies of this position are centered on accounting, investigation, root cause analysis and communication. This is a critical individual contributor position that will take ownership of a recently defined operational process, and improve upon that process. Depending on experience and career level, the job title may be up-leveled to match the expertise of the selected candidate. 

You will be responsible for:

Maintaining and improving operational processes that meet day-to-day account reconciliation and settlement needs
-  Communicating day-to-day with our critical financial partners, and with internal stakeholders
-  Developing a working understanding of other bank operations and finance functions
-  Operating an accounting system that meets a number of rapidly evolving requirements (corporate finance, banking, and securities regulatory requirements)
-  Supporting the creation of safe systems that help our people succeed during a period of rapid change
-  Recommending improvements to efficiency, quality and customer experience by quickly documenting business cases, when investments are necessary to achieve them
-  Acting at all times in a manner that is ethical and aligned with the regulatory obligations of the firm, and our partners
-  A variety of other duties aligned with your unique skills, as our firm and its obligations expand and evolve
-  Additional duties, as assigned Requirements:
-  1 – 3 years experience working in a role involving oversight of bank accounts, banking systems and direct exposure to payment networks (ACH, Card, Check, Wire, etc.)
-  3 - 5 years experience demonstrating professionalism, growth and trustworthiness
-  Demonstrated investment and excellence in formal or informal learning and development, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree
-  Entrepreneurial - you do what it takes to achieve our goals, without having someone telling you what to do
-  Curiosity – when your work is finished, you are driven to enrich yourself and your team by learning and applying new things
-  A functional understanding of banking and investment products


Requirements:

-1 – 3 years experience working in a role involving oversight of bank accounts, banking systems and direct exposure to payment networks (ACH, Card, Check, Wire, etc.)
-3 - 5 years experience demonstrating professionalism, growth and trustworthiness
-Demonstrated investment and excellence in formal or informal learning and development, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree
-Entrepreneurial - you do what it takes to achieve our goals, without having someone telling you what to do
-Curiosity – when your work is finished, you are driven to enrich yourself and your team by learning and applying new things
-A functional understanding of banking and investment products
-Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
-Exceptional reading, writing, written and verbal communication skills
-Strong proficiency with personal computers and business productivity software
-Superior proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets)

Desired qualities:

-Passion for user experience, customer service and social good
-Additional years of relevant experience
-Experience working within financial services (banking and investments)
-Card network experience including one or more of the following: card processing, issuing, partner management, fraud systems, disputes and/or chargebacks
-Experience working in a bank with a broad set of responsibilities leading to a ‘big picture’ understanding of what is necessary to operate them successfully
-Experience in an organization that is recognized for outstanding customer service and customer experience
-Certifications and professional designations; bonus when relevant to accounting (e.g. CPA), series licenses, banking operations, risk management, compliance, process improvement, project management, data analytics or decision analytics
-Experience in FinTech or working in a fast-paced startup environment
-Excellence in business productivity software (Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Bookkeeping & Accounting Solutions)
-Advanced proficiency with cloud-based business intelligence, content management or case management software
-Strong proficiency with software languages that are useful in an environment isolated from production engineering (SQL, Python, R, M, DAX, etc.); ability to apply this proficiency to accelerate day-to-day business needs
-Demonstrated and substantial success in mentoring peers, building processes, creating business value, or creating uniquely fantastic customer experiences at scale; bonus if any of these were in a financial services environment.
