We are seeking an Account Manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with deep experience working within the VA and across all capture, bid proposal, and delivery functions. 

The VA Account Manager develops and executes a strategy to identify promising new business opportunities within the VA, leveraging SteerBridge’s SDVOSB status and past performance. The ideal candidate utilizes extensive relationships to develop effective teaming strategies that drive new business for the company. The ideal candidate is a thought leader who can see the big picture while demonstrating capability and willingness to drive detailed solutions. Required and Desired Skills

    • Develop, organize, and execute significant VA capture activities, including building industry and internal teams.
    • Create and execute VA customer engagement plans.
    • Determine VA customer requirements, pain points, acquisition strategies, and evaluation priorities.
    • Assess the competitive landscape and determine optimal teaming partners.
    • Establish win strategies, value propositions, and compelling features to translate to capture and proposal team.
    • Own specific VA capture opportunities. For those efforts:
    • Perform competitive analysis and outreach to build teams.
    • Manage NDA and Teaming Agreement communications (with the help of the in-house Contracts team)
    • Serve as the Capture Manager during the RFP response stage by leading the proposal team in developing a winning proposal, with specific help in developing win themes, competitive pricing, and presenting a clear understanding of the customer.
    • Perform and/or lead research efforts to build a deep capture pipeline and continually prioritize efforts to maximize return.
    • Leverage and/or build relationships with industry partners and government personnel.
    • Assume a leadership role in SteerBridge’s weekly capture meetings, present strategies, and develop actionable roadmaps to advance opportunities through the sales cycle.
    • Meet with SteerBridge’s leadership team regularly to review day-to-day operational tasks.
    • Expand the VA portfolio to warrant a seat as part of the SteerBridge management team.

    • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be a US Citizen.
    • Minimum of 8 years total Business Development/Capture/Growth experience with the Federal Government and at least 4 years of recent experience with the VA; but government time can be substituted.
    • Possess broad and deep contacts within the VA to facilitate strategic teaming relationships and customer intimacy.
    • Knowledge of VA systems, processes, org charts, mission, etc.
    • Network of VA customers/key people/teaming partners.
    • Knowledge of how business actually gets done at the VA.
    • Reside locally in Northern Virgina/Suburban Maryland/DC area is preferred. 
    • Education: College-level degree.
    • Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
    • Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
    • Preferred: CERTIFICATION(s): CCM, CMBOK, APM, CPBP, FAC-C, or Shipley preferred.
$145,000 - $173,000 a year
A starting base salary commensurate with background and experience will be offered.
