What You’ll Do.
Develop and oversee the school wellness plan. STEM Prep aims to develop both preventative and responsive measures to ensure the safety, health, and wellness of our students and staff.

Care.
For students. Most importantly, you will provide the highest quality medical care for our students. Your role directly impacts the amount of time students are able to spend in class learning by reducing the amount of health-related absenteeism. Beyond responding to student ailments, you will foster a culture of wellness, instructing all students on healthy habits.
For our mission.  STEM Prep serves the incredibly vibrant and diverse community of South Nashville. Our team is fiercely committed to providing high-quality education to every member of our community, no matter their home language or experience with formal education. Every member of our team runs through the wall to fulfill our commitment to our families.

For our community. Many of our students and families receive inconsistent (or no) formal medical care. You are passionate about not only providing high quality care and education, but also about demystifying the health care system (and frankly, about making sure it’s not scary). Your aim is to ensure that every student has both the care and knowledge they need to advocate for their wellness for the rest of their lives. You believe that parents are partners in caring for the health and wellness of their students, and are committed to working hand-in-hand with them to support their students.

Who You Are:

    • You see the big picture and sweat the small stuff. You are simultaneously thinking about the overall wellness of the organization and the individual student in front of you. You understand that wellness at scale can only exist if each individual is cared for. You’ve got a plan to make both happen.
    • You strike the balance between sticking to a plan and being flexible. Working in a school, like working in healthcare, is a dynamic puzzle. This has never been more true than in the world we live in today. You always have a plan (as well as a plan b and plan c), but are not afraid to go back to the drawing board when you realize you haven’t gotten it quite right.
    • You’re a self-starter. You are the wellness expert in the building and you are undaunted. You see the daily challenges (which are many) but instead of bogging you down, they excite you. You are known for your creativity and ingenuity, able to execute on multiple projects at once with a clear vision.
    • You’re a team player. You are searching for an organization of tough, passionate individuals who are laser focused on the end goal. You’re looking for a place where your colleagues welcome your ideas and have your back. You are the first person to volunteer for a new, challenging project, and are never too busy to act as a sounding board for your colleague’s new ideas.
