The Platform Product Director is responsible - alongside the Data Product Director - for achieving this goal that will enable the company's growth. The importance and prominence of this goal makes the role appealing for someone who values accountability and delivering strategic value.
The primary purpose of Product is to build digital experiences that are valuable, usable, and viable for customers and the business. The Platform Product Director will work alongside 2 other Product Directors - for Data and Experience - to collectively deliver this purpose; and you will lead a team of 5 Platform Product Managers who collectively own the Customer Platform. Outside of Product, you collaborate closely with your peers in Technology - participating in all phases of product development: from discovery to delivery to iteration.
You will ensure the Customer Platform becomes increasingly efficient and effective - and your measures of success are reduced time to deliver strategic capabilities for others to utilise, increased use of the strategic capabilities you provide and reduced cost of maintaining the platform. You collaborate closely with your peers in Product and Engineering - participating in all phases of product development: from discovery to delivery to iteration.
Primary responsibilities
- Vision & Strategy:
Define the Platform vision and strategy - articulated in both 1 year and 3 year Goals - aligned with the Company and Product Strategy. Translate that into Domain objectives that provide strategic direction to your Product Managers.
- Data driven insights:
Accountable for gaining, applying and sharing a deep understanding of user needs into actionable insight.
- High quality Execution: Oversee the execution of high-quality capabilities against the outcomes . Lead the team in adopting practices that balance delivering thin slices of in-year value alongside building reusable capabilities. Guide the team on when to look at buying vs building solutions for ‘already-solved’ problems vs when to bold and visionary solutions are required.
- Cross functional collaboration, influencing and Leadership:
Drive effective collaboration across the broader Storio organisation - including Marketing, Physical Product, Mar Tech, Operations - to achieve shared goals. Build trust that enables you to inspire action to achieve these goals collectively.
- Team Management & Leadership: Manage, mentor and coach the Platform Product Managers. Hold a high bar for performance, and foster a culture of value creation, executional excellence, continuous improvement and collaboration.
- ROI Management: Manage the financial outcomes of your Platform Products.
- Budget Management: Manage the financial outcomes of your Customer Platform P&L.
- Stay Ahead: Keep up-to-date with the latest platform trends, technologies, and best practices, and share that knowledge with the team.
What You Bring to the Party
- Extensive Product Leadership experience (hiring, mentoring and coaching).
- Strong Platform experience in an ecommerce or digital product environment.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of leading and influencing successfully across the organization - at an Executive, cross-functional peer, and manager level.
