About the role:
The Purchaser is a critical role within our organization, responsible for overseeing all procurement activities for our Ypenburg factory. This includes developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing a team of buyers, negotiating contracts with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and optimizing costs while maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of supply chain management principles.
Your daily adventure at Storio:
- Strategy Deployment: Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager and Ypenburg factory management to implement strategic initiatives. Participate in cross-functional projects, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making and achieve KPIs aligned with company strategy.
- Strategic Sourcing: Devise and execute an effective sourcing strategy for the Ypenburg factory, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality materials at the best possible cost.
- Supplier Relationship: Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers. Collaborate with the group procurement team to conduct regular supplier performance reviews and resolve any performance issues. Support in negotiating contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions while mitigating risk.
- Project Management: Spearhead local projects, as well as related supply chain and cross-functional initiatives, as the local procurement key stakeholder.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and process improvements. Monitor and report on key cost metrics. Flag areas for cost savings. Partner with Storio purchasing colleagues in other production locations to drive optimization strategies that align with the overall group procurement strategy.
- Inventory Management: Work closely with production planning to optimize inventory levels and ensure smooth production flow by minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality teams to guarantee that all purchased materials meet the required quality standards.
- Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, commodity prices, and supplier capabilities to anticipate potential supply chain disruptions and identify new sourcing opportunities.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing performance, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory levels. Analyze data to pinpoint areas for improvement.
How you make your mark:
- In this role, you will make a significant mark within the organization by supporting our overall purchasing operational and strategic efficiency.
- You will drive improvement in the way we operate at the local level within our Ypenburg factory, as well as strengthen our connection to the broader Storio group.
- You are the key stakeholder at the local level with the group procurement team. This will involve engaging cross-functionally with teams both within our factory and across the Storio group, with the aim of improving our budget delivery, implementing process improvements, enhancing risk management, ensuring compliance, leveraging data analysis, advancing sustainability initiatives, streamlining documentation, and fostering strong teamwork.
- Ultimately, you will have a considerable impact on our operational efficiency and overall customer satisfaction.
What you bring to the party:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A master's degree is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing principles, contract negotiation, and supply chain management best practices.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and purchasing software.
- Experience with Oracle is a must!
- Strong understanding of quality control processes and standards.
- Support group projects, efficiency and operational improvements at different levels within the factory.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
