About Story

Story aims to grow the creativity of the internet. The internet has introduced revolutionary new methods of developing and distributing creative work: endless remixing, participatory franchises, and AI generated content. However, our current intellectual property infrastructure works against the openness of the internet instead of embracing it. Story is building an IP infrastructure optimized for the internet era.

Story is the Programmable IP layer built for the age of AI. We transform IP into networks that transcend mediums and platforms, unlocking global creativity and liquidity.

Our team features deep expertise in media, tech, and business. Founding team members are successful serial entrepreneurs. We are a Series B company with $140 million in funding, led by a16z and other top-tier investors.

The Role

We are looking for a Research Fellow with a passion for cryptography, decentralized systems, and blockchain technologies to join our innovative research team. This is a short-term full-time contract role (4 months) with the potential to extend for an additional 4 months.

As part of our research team, you will help shape the future of decentralized IP infrastructure. You will work closely with our engineering leads to explore the next frontiers in blockchain, peer-to-peer networking, and decentralized storage systems.

Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with engineering leads to identify and address opportunities for improvement across Story’s blockchain stack.
    • Propose and develop innovative research topics, strategies, and approaches.
    • Present findings and thought leadership on the latest blockchain developments through internal talks and external forums.
    • Publish in-depth research reports on blockchain technology, cryptography, and decentralized systems.
    • Design and implement proof-of-concept projects to validate research findings and explore new opportunities.

Requirements

    • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven track record of research in blockchain technologies, cryptography, peer-to-peer systems, or decentralized networks.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
    • Self-driven with a deep passion for decentralized systems and blockchain technology.
    • Experience publishing academic papers or technical reports related to blockchain or distributed systems is highly desirable.
