The Royalty Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day participation/royalty activities, supports the month-end close. She or he should ideally have experience in the entertainment industry and knowledge of GAAP/IFRS accounting principles for revenue recognition and minimum guarantees. The Royalty Accountant will work closely with our external data processor, internal talent managers and our talent directly. Effective communication (both oral and written) and follow-thru are essential.
·This role will be expected to participate heavily in period end close activities, including preparing journal entries, invoicing, credit memos, reconciliations, ad hoc reporting requests.
·Work closely and partner with internal teams as well as external data processor to ensure reporting deadlines throughout the month are strictly adhered to
·Be the point person for talent manager/talent requests including but not limited to: talent onboarding into data systems, contract review and approval, update systems with contractual changes, verify tax documents (w8 & W9), supporting annual #1042 filing, and account inquiry requests.
·Fully understand royalty processes and royalty platform, will also work closely with our external data processor, assisting with verifying data, statement generation, and booking of related entries.
·Pull monthly reporting from various external partners data sources
·Prepare talent payment schedules
·Ad hoc reconciliations related to talent payments
·Work on and identify process improvements
·Support the accounts payable manager and other members of the management team
·Maintain integrity of, and compliance with, internal controls
·BA/BS Degree required
·Minimum three years’ previous participations, accounting, audit or financial related experience required
·Prior experience in participations/royalty environment preferred
·Previous entertainment industry working experience preferred
·Knowledge of IFRS and/or GAAP accounting principles preferred
·Strong minded individual with ability to interact professionally with like-minded stakeholders (e.g., talent, talent managers and executives)
·Excellent analytical skills required
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
·Strong overall understanding of Participations, including ability to read and understand digests and abstracts of legal agreements required
·Very strong planning, organizational, and time management skills required
·Solution oriented individual who can work in a dynamic, fast paced, high volume environment and think outside of the box
·Quick learner and self-starter

·BA/BS Degree required
·Strong competency in working with multiple systems, applications and must be willing to learn new IT applications
·Very strong/advanced proficiency in Excel
·Great Plains experience (preferred but not essential)
·Salesforce experience (preferred but not essential)
