The accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the participations statement preparation, review and analysis within the Accounting Department. This role reviews legal agreements and generates participation statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the company’s contractual obligations. This position will play a crucial role for the monthly financial close and financial reporting submission to the German HQ.


    • Setup and maintain deals in Studio 71’s database in the royalty software to support profit participation reporting. Review and approve deal setups prepared by others in
    • Prepare participations statements, leveraging the company’s participations software system, deal database software system, and analytical methodologies
    • Conducts self-review of participation statements generated from automated systems, including validating the deal set-up, and confirming accuracy of all statement related information including detailed GL account analysis and reconciliation and validation with front-line managers, as required
    • Reconcile and prepare general journal entries for talent advances and recoupment
    • Research abnormalities using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
    • Analyze, interpret and summarize financial reporting provisions and revenues of legal contracts for various media and entertainment projects, including feature films, YouTube videos, television shows, Kickstarter campaigns, branded content campaigns, among others
    • Liaise with business affairs, corporate legal to clarify deal points as needed
    • Perform current and historical data analysis verifying that reporting is in accordance with contractual agreements
    • Perform ad-hoc projects, analyses and research (e.g. participant and auditor queries, etc.) by gathering pertinent information from systems and/or business units, and summarizing findings/solutions for management
    • Develop and test appropriate documentation for processes
    • Identify improvements and enhancements to the participations software system and participate in design and testing
    • Create, standardize and improve business processes for statement preparation
    • Staff development


    • BA/BS Degree in Accounting/Finance required
    • CPA preferred
    • Minimum five years previous participations, accounting, audit or financial related experience required
    • Prior experience in participations environment preferred
    • Previous entertainment industry working experience preferred
    • Knowledge of IFRS and/or GAAP accounting principles preferred
    • Must have strong competency in working with multiple systems, applications and must be willing to learn new IT applications
    • Very strong proficiency in Excel
    • Excellent analytical skills required
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, including development, documentation, and delivery of training materials
    • Strong overall understanding of Participations, including ability to read and understand digests and abstracts of legal agreements required
    • Very strong planning, organizational, time management and leadership skills required
    • Must be very flexible and able to adapt and lead in a team environment that is fast-paced and changing rapidly
    • Strong ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and management within and outside the division (operational, financial, legal, IT, executive)
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
