We’re a mid-sized global SaaS company seeking a hands-on, experienced payroll specialist to take ownership of our UK and international payroll operations. This is a pivotal role in our People & Finance team, ideal for someone who has managed payroll across multiple countries and wants to shape how we scale our global systems and processes. You’ll be based out of our Solihull office, working on a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in office) alongside our People and Finance teams.

You’ll be the go-to expert overseeing payroll operations across the UK, Germany, Australia, France, and Canada, working closely with our global payroll partner (currently Deel) and collaborating cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Legal. If you enjoy autonomy, value accuracy and compliance, and want to contribute to broader compliance initiatives across these teams, this role offers long-term growth and impact.

Why Join Us?

Own and lead the international payroll function for a growing global business
Work in a flexible hybrid environment while building real in-person connections in our Solihull office
Gain exposure to cross-functional compliance work—tailored to your strengths and development goals
Help shape the future of our payroll tools, partners, and processes

Key Responsibilities:

    • Independently manage full-cycle payroll across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local employment laws, tax regulations, and internal policies.
    • Act as the main point of contact with our global payroll partner, managing data submissions, payroll reviews, and issue resolution.
    • Review, reconcile, and approve monthly payroll reports; coordinate timely and accurate employee payments.
    • Maintain and update payroll records (hires, terminations, bonuses, salary changes, statutory changes).
    • Ensure statutory reporting and compliance—including tax filings, pensions, and employer contributions—especially in the UK, Germany, France, Canada, and Australia.
    • Partner closely with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to support country expansions, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement.
    • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and stakeholders with clarity and professionalism.
    • Support compliance-focused work during payroll downtimes, across HR compliance, Accounting/Finance, and corporate governance or vendor compliance

Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of international payroll experience, including UK payroll as a core component
    • Experience with global payroll or Employer of Record (EOR) platforms (e.g., Deel, Papaya Global, Remote)
    • Comfortable managing payroll independently for multiple countries with different statutory requirements
    • Strong Excel and data accuracy skills; working knowledge of HRIS or finance systems
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions
    • Based within commuting distance to Solihull and able to work in-office 3 days/week

    • Nice-to-Haves:
    • Payroll certifications (e.g., CIPP, CPP)
    • Background in SaaS or global technology companies
    • Experience supporting or leading compliance projects in HR, accounting, or corporate governance

    • Please Note
    • This is not an accounting or finance role. We’re specifically seeking a payroll operations expert—someone with hands-on experience managing payroll.
