SugarCRM is excited to announce an opportunity for a driven individual passionate about cloud operations to join our team as the VP of Cloud Operations. This role is perfect for a dynamic leader who possesses a unique blend of energy, vision, strategic thinking, and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will lead the strategy and execution of our online services, with a special focus on our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud hosting solution that serves our extensive global clientele. The role demands a candidate with deep technical acumen to oversee and expand our infrastructure and the leadership skills to cultivate and direct our team of operations engineers. Outstanding collaborative and communicative abilities are essential, as this position involves significant coordination with the Product Management, Engineering, and Security departments to ensure the seamless development and provision of our platforms and services. 

Responsibilities

    • Spearhead strategic initiatives, planning, and fiscal management. 
    • Architect and maintain highly reliable and scalable services. 
    • Collaborate with engineering and support to drive architectural changes that optimize our cloud experience. 
    • Systematically introduce new components and services, emphasizing configuration as code for reliability and repeatability. 
    • Enhance the company’s product delivery pipeline through tools and automation. 
    • Develop and enforce backup and disaster recovery protocols. 
    • Guide, mentor, and develop a highly capable and globally dispersed 24x7 team of operations engineers. 
    • Foster a culture of excellence throughout the organization. 
    • Generate and distribute content to aid our sales team and facilitate large-scale customer engagements. 
    • Uphold and enhance Information Security standards, maintaining compliance with certifications such as ISO27001 and SOC2 Type 2. 
    • Manage and exceed the established service level agreements (SLAs) both internally and externally. 
    • Utilize data to inform capacity planning, design budgets, and manage costs effectively. 

Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, with a focus on network engineering or Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • At least 10 years in a Cloud Operations capacity, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a public cloud-based SaaS setting. 
    • Proven ability to compile and interpret data for reporting to executive management. 
    • Expertise in leading and managing a globally distributed virtual team. 
    • A track record of success in developing/managing budgets and SLAs. 
    • Hands-on experience in managing web services at scale, leveraging configuration management and version control tools. 
    • Experience with Kubernetes. 
    • Administration of SQL and NoSQL databases. 
    • Deep cloud knowledge, preferably with AWS. 
    • Extensive experience with configuration as code and version control. 
    • Comprehensive knowledge in various scripting languages including PHP, Ruby, Python, and shell scripting. 
    • Proven ability leading through crises, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. 
$222,700 - $277,500 a year
