Summersalt is seeking an Associate Technical Designer to join our rapidly growing team! In this role, you will work in close collaboration with the Technical Design & Pattern Making, Fashion Design, and Product Development teams to develop products from concept to PP approval. This person will also work externally with local and overseas partners to track production and ensure on-time delivery.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

    • Ensure garment uniformity and consistency, with a focus on fit, construction, and quality.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global partners to align products with standards and production timelines.
    • Assist during fittings with Designers, Patternmakers, and Product Development to determine fit and aesthetic direction.
    • Propose ideas for alternative construction methods or components during fittings.
    • Evaluate samples for vendor execution, suggesting pattern corrections or garment adjustments.
    • Update tech packs with detailed technical sketches, graded measurement specifications, and construction details.
    • Organize daily workload to meet production calendar and deadlines.
    • Collaborate with the Technical Design and Patternmaking team to initiate block pattern development.
    • Create and Maintain libraries of approved samples, construction details, garment specs, and block patterns.
    • Communicate with vendors and track progress to ensure on-time delivery.
    • Work independently on various tasks.
    • Organize and maintain the fit/PP sample library.

ABOUT YOU:

    • 3-5 years of technical design experience in apparel (knit and woven) and/or swimwear.
    • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, or a related field.
    • Keen attention to proportion, balance, and aesthetic detail.
    • Ability to communicate technical approaches, action plans, and project status both verbally and in writing.
    • Basic understanding of garment fitting, construction, and patternmaking.
    • Familiarity with the garment manufacturing process is a plus.
    • Computer skills with exposure to programs like Centric, Illustrator, and Excel; familiarity with Optitex, Gerber PDS, or Lectra is advantageous.
    • Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, extremely fast paced business environment and welcoming ever changing requirements even in late development to satisfy our customer.
    • Demonstrates initiative, commitment, and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment in St. Louis, MO, or willingness to relocate.
