Sundays for Dogs is a fast-growing, innovative pet food company dedicated to providing high-quality, air-dried dog food made with real ingredients. We prioritize sustainability, quality, and customer satisfaction, ensuring our supply chain operates efficiently and cost-effectively.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Purchasing Associate to join our team in Cleveland and support day-to-day operations of our supply chain and purchasing function.
As our Purchasing Associate, you’ll play a key role in supporting ingredient sourcing, packaging coordination, and purchase order tracking. This entry-level role is ideal for someone early in their career with experience in the food industry who wants to grow their skills in procurement and operations.
This role must be based in Cleveland, OH and work out of our HQ office 5 days a week.
Your Day to Day
- Purchasing & Logistics (70%)
- Manage pre-blend ingredient quantities and ensure timely ordering
- Cut and track purchase orders across ingredients and packaging
- Verify delivery accuracy (e.g., confirm that 60,000 lbs ordered = 60,000 lbs received)
- Coordinate packaging orders (boxes, bags) in partnership with Craig (Supply Chain)
- Help track inventory needs using forecast models
- Supplier Management & Cost Analysis (30%)
- Work with James to support cost modeling and price comparisons
- Research and source new ingredients using tools likeKeychain
- Perform basic ingredient substitution analysis (e.g., finding alternatives to pumpkin)
- Build and maintain vendor relationships
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- At least 6 months of experience in the food industry (procurement, logistics, or production coordination)
- Comfortable reading sales orders and shipping manifests
- Familiar with ingredient sourcing or packaging logistics
- Excel proficiency required (you love a good spreadsheet)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Basic math or formulation knowledge
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
- Experience with logistics coordination or supply chain systems a plus
