The Tax Associate II will support the tax function at Sunnova and will report to the Tax Manager.  The tax function is responsible for tax compliance, financial statement reporting, and tax planning support.  This position will be exposed to all areas of taxation and will have the opportunity to develop and master all of them.  Sunnova is a dynamic company, looking for motivated people to impact results as part of our team.

Responsibilities

    • Prepare tax return workpapers in coordination with third-party tax providers
    • Perform review of U.S. Federal consolidated return, partnership returns and state income and franchise tax returns
    • Review Federal and State Tax extensions, and assist to make quarterly estimated payments
    • Prepare monthly entries and reconciliation workpapers for tax balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare/review income tax returns for Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands Support tax and financial statement audits
    • Support tax equity and ITC transferability projects
    • Assist in the research, analysis, and documentation of various tax matters
    • Assist with other tax department tasks, as necessary

Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field required
    • CPA preferred (or actively pursuing)
    • Master’s degree in accounting or taxation preferred
    • 5+ years of public accounting or in large corporation experience required
    • Strong experience and proficiency in Excel
    • Proven use of analytical skills and ability to analyze and interpret large quantities of data
    • Highly positive energy, self-motivated, and can-do personality
    • Salesforce or other enterprise accounting software experience preferred
    • Very strong organizational and communication (both verbal and written) skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects while working under pressure and time constraints
    • Excellent analytical and statistical skills
    • Knowledge and capability to use the tools, processes, and best practices for predicting business trends and providing forecasts that drive business decisions and business planning
    • Eagerness to take ownership of the function
    • Team player that behaves ethically, with highest degree of integrity always
