Ford-Gelatt, a SunSource Company and leading distributor and repair center of process pumps and components in the fluid process market, is currently seeking a Pump Mechanic for our Baton Rouge, LA repair facility.
We're looking for an energetic, self-driven and highly technical individual to join our Repair team.
Essential Functions
- Assemble, test, trouble-shoot, service and repair a wide variety of pumps, gearboxes and other rotating process equipment, using drawings, schematics, manuals and diagnostic equipment
- Inspect parts and various components to determine if they are repairable
- Provide complete service report and repair recommendations
- Diagnose problems and recommendations for repair
- Specify parts and labor required to repair for quotation purposes
- Assemble units according to manufacturer specifications and tolerances
- Clean, organize and maintain shop and shop equipment
- Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development
- Various other responsibilities around facility as needed
Experience, Education and Skills
- Mechanical pump or rotating equipment experience
- Vo-tech or other additional technical training is a plus
- 5+ years in industrial environment
- Additional welding and/or machining skills is a plus
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret schematics
- Ability to work under pressure and handle daily changes in schedule and priorities
- Must be able to stand for majority of workday and lift up to 75 lbs
