The servo technician is responsible for rebuilding and testing various servo and proportional valves.
Experience, Education and Skills
- HS Diploma or GED
- Has completed 1+ years of workplace training in electric motors and feedback
- Possesses basic knowledge of AC,DC and servo motor construction and functionality
- Utilize Mitchell test equipment to test and align all types of feedback devices (i.e. encoders and resolvers) and test motors
- Able to disassemble and reassemble AC, DC and servo motors with assistance
- Possesses and understanding of how to clean, prep and paint motors using the wash tanks, bake oven and paint booth
- Able to use drills, grinders, torque wenches, torches and pneumatic tools
- Accurately complete quotes, service reports and files paperwork
- Demonstrates the ability to store motors properly during the repair process and to keep part organized for sub contracted work
- Communicates with inside sales representatives when there is a customer concern or questions with a motor in for repair
- Able to use the computer to complete quotes, look up parts and to check on job status
- Able to provide training to Servo Motor Prep and Servo Motor Teardown personnel
Essential Functions
- Able to use a variety of hand tools required for repair
- Able to use micrometer, veunier calipers, and multi-meter
- Possess a basic understanding of hydraulic valves
- Able to properly punch mark and teardown valves
- Demonstrates the ability to safely operate fork trucks and lifts
- Able to build standard servo valves with minimal training
- Ability to set up and test servo valves with minimal training
- Ability to use a variety of measuring tool such as micrometers, ID micrometers, and calipers.
- Able to use electrical test equipment
- Possesses mechanical ability
- Regularly required to stand, sit, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced shop environment
- Use personal protective equipment when necessary (i.e. Viton gloves and safety glasses)
- Overtime may be required at times
