Job Summary
The hydraulic technician is responsible for testing and repairing various hydraulic components.
Hydraulic Technician
1.Has completed basic hydraulic/pneumatic instruction with a grade of “C” or better and/or has completed 1-2 years of workplace training in hydraulics/pneumatics (Completion of fluid power program at technical school can be used to fulfill workplace training requirement - 2 semester program = 1 year workplace training, 4 semester program = 2 years workplace)
2.Able to use a variety of hand tools required for repair
3.Able to tear down open loop and closed loop pumps
4.Able to understand basic hydraulic diagrams/schematics
5.Able to understand the basics on the three most popular pumps and their components.
6.Possess a common understanding of cylinders and their operations
7.Demonstrates the ability to safely operate the equipment (hoist, fork trucks, and lifts) used to maneuver hydraulic or pneumatic units
8.Possess an understanding of the dangers behind high pressure equipment and high flowing systems
9.Able to provide training to Hydraulic Prep, Hydraulic Teardown and Test Technicians
Required skills:
Basic mechanical abilities
Ability to read hydraulic schematics
Ability to use a variety of hand tools
Ability to use various tools for measurement (micrometer, id micrometer, and calipers)

Special Information (travel required, physical requirements, additional info):
Regularly required to stand, sit, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced shop environment
Advanced hydraulics coursework is a plus
40-50 hours per week, overtime may be required
