About the role
Working closely with the Facilities Manager and Head of Site Operations, the Facilities Supervisor will play a key role in the efficient running of the laboratories and offices at our Nottingham site. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Supervisor will oversee the successful delivery of facilities support, line manage the laboratory technicians and will also be involved in several additional activities to support the day-to-day running of the site.

The Opportunity:

    • Working in close conjunction with both the lab tech team and scientists in providing day to day laboratory support. Ensuring the completion of the facilities core duties & tasks for efficient and safe working in the labs, including collection and distribution of deliveries, timely collection and safe removal of waste, PAT testing, decontamination of equipment etc.
    • Line management and development of laboratory technicians and working with them on their appraisals, training needs and development plans.
    • Working closely with the Facilities Manager and Head of Site Operations to ensure the smooth running of the Nottingham facilities.
    • Being the facilities point of contact for heads of department on site and ensuring effective communication.
    • Being a point of contact for external engineers, contractors and suppliers for the site.
    • Ensuring Permit to Work forms are completed and registered.
    • Deputising facilities manager in asset management and equipment maintenance
    • Deputising for Facilities Manager in the day-to-day liaison with the Landlord’s facilities, security, and delivery dock personnel.
    • Purchasing and coordination of furniture orders in liaison with the Facilities Manager and Head of Site Operations.
    • Attendance of monthly lab captains’ meetings as the facilities representative for Nottingham.
    • Assist with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
    • Ensuring all facilities tickets are dealt with in a timely manner.
    • Facilities equipment is inspected on a regular basis and remains fully compliant.
    • Ensure lab tech office is clean, tidy and clutter free at all times.
    • H&S responsibilities:
    • - Work closely with site H&S representative to promote a safe working environment by identifying areas of improvement.
      - Ensure that all mandatory training for self and lab tech team is up to date and recorded.
      - Represent Facilities in monthly H&S tours with site H&S representatives.
      - Ensure any H&S concerns are raised immediately to Facilities and H&S management.
    • Report on H&S incidents at monthly Facilities meetings. 

Key Requirements:

    • Previous experience in facilities, as a Lab Technician or Lab Manager is essential.
    • Previous experience of working in a Lab is essential, working within a CRO environment is desirable but not essential
    • Team Leader / Line Management experience is essential.
    • Good understanding of lab equipment and basic maintenance requirements
    • An understanding of HVAC systems and general plant equipment.
    • Able to partner with internal customers and demonstrate strong internal customer focus.
    • Able to proactively respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
    • A flexible and positive can-do attitude.
    • Continuously seek to improve processes with efficiency and H&S in mind.
