What is Sylvera anyway? ‍👩‍👨🌳
Sylvera is scaling carbon markets with software. We do this by applying advanced machine learning techniques to satellite data to quantify with unprecedented accuracy the amount of carbon stored in landscapes - and then we visualise that data to our customers.

We believe the transparency Sylvera provides will enable carbon markets to have a more positive impact on the world in a shorter space of time. This will be critical in keeping the planet under 2C of warming and provide huge wider benefits to  nature and society.

Founded just 2 years ago, Sylvera has now scaled to over 100 employees across the world and has raised over $30m from leading VCs like Index Ventures and Insight Partners. We’ve also collaborated with leading institutions - University College London, UCLA and NASA JPL.

We're on a super steep trajectory over the next couple of years - we want incredible people that are as passionate as we are about the mission and want to build an amazing organisation with us to achieve it.

What will I be doing? ‍‍👩‍💻👨‍💻
Having found early product-market fit in a nascent, fast growing space, we’re now scaling our Legal team at pace. We’re looking for mission-driven Legal Counsel to report into the Head of Legal and support the business on its rapid, international expansion.

Specific responsibilities will include:

    • Working with the Sales team to negotiate contracts and bring household name customers onto the Sylvera platform
    • Managing Sylvera’s intellectual property portfolio
    • Supporting the People team with questions of employment law
    • Facilitating the international expansion of the Sylvera corporate group
    • Supporting on dilutive and non-dilutive fundraising
    • Providing data protection and privacy advice to all Sylvera functions
    • Ensuring our insurance coverage is appropriate to the business risks we face

We’re looking for someone who: 🧠💚

    • Has 1 - 4 years of PQE (ideally with some in-house experience at a lean organisation)
    • Has a high degree of empathy and can confidently work with all teams at Sylvera
    • Is comfortable operating outside of their comfort zone and is solutions-minded
    • Can operate independently, assess risks and take decisions, whilst knowing when to escalate
    • Can prioritise ruthlessly to have a high impact before clocking off on time
    • Has strong organisational skills and is able to autonomously lead multiple deliverables in a fast paced environment; moving quickly without that affecting the quality of the work
    • Is an exceptional communicator and able to explain complex legal concepts in simple terms
    • Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems of the earth
Also, open to East Coast US applicants
