The Role
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist with fellowship training or significant expertise in Movement Disorders, Ataxia, or related neurodegenerative conditions. This full-time, remote position is ideal for a physician passionate about improving access to expert ataxia care via telehealth, contributing to multidisciplinary care models, and advancing innovation in neurodegenerative disease management. Spanish language proficiency is preferred to support a diverse population of patients and caregivers.

Job Duties – What you’ll be doing

    • Deliver virtual longitudinal care to patients living with Ataxia and related disorders.
    • Conduct detailed diagnostic and follow-up evaluations tailored to disease progression.
    • Collaborate with an integrated care team, including genetic counselors, palliative care experts, and social workers.
    • Guide treatment planning, including medications, therapies, genetic counseling, and clinical trial enrollment.
    • Educate and support patients and families, addressing the physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges of living with Ataxia.
    • Contribute to clinical protocols and care model enhancements.
    • Participate in regular peer discussions with neurologists and other team members to ensure consistency and quality of care.

Requirements – What we look for in you

    • Board-certified (or eligible) in Neurology with fellowship training in Movement Disorders or related specialty; or demonstrated expertise in treating Ataxia.
    • Experience managing hereditary and sporadic ataxias, spinocerebellar ataxias, and related movement disorders.
    • Comfortable with telehealth care delivery and collaborating with remote, interdisciplinary teams.
    • Licensed (or ability to become licensed) to practice in multiple states (Synapticure provides licensure support).
    • Passionate about improving care models and advancing outcomes for underserved patient

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in academic, multidisciplinary, or research-driven care settings.
    • Prior participation in clinical trials or specialized care programs for Ataxia or Movement Disorders.
    • Proficiency in Spanish.
