As a member of a dynamic development team, the Senior HW designer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, architecture, design, testing and delivery to manufacturing of carrier-grade hardware used for optical line systems capable of 400Gbps and beyond and broadband fiber access systems with PON rates of up to 50Gbps.
What you'll do
- Lead HW development projects and advise and mentor other HW team members
- Own all aspects of circuit pack development schedule, prototype delivery, product testing and product certification
- Work with product line management and other managers to interpret and negotiate product features and specifications
- Lead and interface with contract resources outside of your organization
- Define technical specifications to support design concepts, and participate in specification peer reviews
- Participate in design reviews, guide technical discussions to conclusion
- Interface with component vendors and negotiate design specifications with external suppliers
- Review Designs to ensure they meet architecture goals
- Support the technology transfer to manufacturing/production testing
What you'll need to get the job done
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 12+ years experience in optical transport or fiber access equipment development or high-speed circuit pack development
- Experience with 1RU-14RU carrier-grade system requirements and high-speed optical and access fiber transmission systems
- Experience with board level development and being a lead designer for development projects
- Experience and understanding of design for testability and manufacturability concepts
- Experience in developing environmentally hardened optical transport and access systems Experience with a variety of optical interfaces and telecommunications standards up to 400G and beyond is an asset
