Syntronic is looking for an exceptional and seasoned Strategic Accounts Director, reporting to VP Strategic Engineering and Business Development, to become an integral part of a growing customer facing and focused team. As a leader in development and customer engagement, you will be hands-on and expected to lead engagements with customers in presenting and developing solutions proposals and planning of complex product development.
The Strategic Accounts Director will leverage their significant experience in product development to develop highly complex engineering proposals, and when required lead development teams to execute on design development. You will be expected to be hands on in reviewing design requirements and developing engineering proposals.
The Director of Strategic Business Development must have direct experience in leading design of solutions in SW and/or HW and experience interfacing with external customers at all levels (VP to ICs).
As a key member of the Business and Strategic Engineering team, the Strategic Accounts Director will be expected to participate in direct business development activities to show case Syntronic design expertise to prospective customers, engage customers to determine/define key development specifications/requirements, work with engineering teams to develop and present proposals.
Furthermore, the Strategic Accounts Director will work closely with the business development and engineering teams in determining new areas and markets that can drive growth of capability and business for Syntronic.
What you will do
- Provide technical leadership and oversight to Engineering teams at Syntronic as needed.
- Participate in product requirement documentation / definition with System Architects
- Participate in customer meetings with business development / sales to pitch Syntronic engineering capabilities
- Interact with customer design engineering teams to define product specification, architecture
- Lead proposal quoting exercises and ensure accurate estimates for cost and schedule in collaboration with broader engineering execution teams. Develop clear and effective written proposals and quotations.
- Promote Syntronic capabilities, footprint, and services to new customers.
- Take the lead in ensuring the design development teams understand every detail of the requirements and ensure that the team can deliver correctly, on time and with quality.
- Evaluate new technologies and strategies to help improve Syntronic engineering offering, services quality and enable new market areas for product development
- Ability to participate in detailed design reviews to understand and respond to issues and ensure correct design according to specification.
- Assist in hiring A players (SMEs) in different functional areas to support capability and best in class design development teams.
- Have a strong understanding of the product development processes both SW and HW (HW is a must)
- Research and advise on new areas of capability investment for developing prospective new customer markets and information to determine their potential.
- Identify and resolve risks and roadblocks to successful completion of customer deliverables.
What you need to get the job done
- Degree in HW/SW Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 15 years combined work experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of combined experience leading teams in product development for complex HW & SW products.
- Direct design experience in the past in product HW/SW design for telecom, or networking products. Direct design experience in software development is a must
- Experience with development on Windows or Linux environments
- Experience with Cloud and various backend infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, Gcloud)
- Strong knowledge of SW and HW design development processes.
- Technical understanding of development to dive into details in all areas of product design
- Proven track record of working with 3rd party partners and suppliers.
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to influence, collaborate and work effectively with all levels of internal and external leadership
- Experience in developing budgets and project requirements
- Experience in developing business cases
- Ability to document plans, strategies, status, proposals for customer presentations
- Strong desire of accountability and ownership
What will make us REALLY love you
- Prior experience in a customer-facing technical leadership role within an engineering services or consulting environment
- Demonstrated ability to support business development through technical presentations and proposal creation
- Experience in preparing and leading quoting and estimation exercises for hardware and software development projects
- Background in cross-functional systems engineering (e.g., integration of HW, SW, mechanical, and test disciplines)
- Understanding of design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles in product development
- Experience leading or supporting talent acquisition efforts for highly technical engineering roles
- Exposure to emerging technologies relevant to Syntronic’s key domains (e.g., AI/ML integration, automotive electronics, telecom infrastructure, etc.)
- Previous involvement in strategic planning or capability investment initiative
