The Sr. Critical Facilities Technician (Sr. CFT) is responsible for all aspects of data center operations related to critical and non-critical infrastructure, equipment, and systems. This lead role will help set the standard of operating with an unwavering attitude and commitment to safety and reliability within the Data Center. The Sr. CFT will drive continual improvements to the operational excellence of the data center by leading by example by adhering to company standards and industry best practices. They will have a mindset of ongoing learning and development, and will be responsible for daily hands-on training and development of junior technicians.  They will be required to complete Level I training within 30 days of employment, and Level II training within 60 days of employment.  As a member of the company’s Facilities team, the Sr. CFT will be responsible for providing field level technical expertise and program management for the maintenance and operation of the site infrastructure and base building support systems. This individual should be prepared to stand-in and assume a supervisory role in the absence of the CFM and/or ACFM as required   
 

Responsibilities

    • Operate and maintain critical and non-critical data center infrastructure equipment and systems
    • Assist the CFM/ACFM to lead the CFT team to deliver total availability (100% uptime) while minimizing risks
    • Monitor power, cooling capacity, and environmental conditions within the data halls
    • Responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in mechanical and electrical support systems related to maintenance, troubleshooting, and daily operation including: power distribution systems, emergency power, HVAC, heat rejection systems, fire alarm, and suppression systems
    • Provide training and expertise for using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage all planned and unplanned data center work
    • Assist with all preventive maintenance inspections on data center electrical and mechanical equipment
    • Assist with the planning, scheduling, and execution of all electrical and mechanical corrective issues within the Data Center to ensure resolution while minimizing risk; properly communicate issues to the appropriate chain of command
    • Troubleshoot and document technical issues, escalate as appropriate, and ensure complete issue resolution
    • Respond to emergencies and critical issues as necessary and support a team approach to all activities
    • Participate in the development, review, and execution of operating procedures
    • Perform quality control reviews of processes and completed projects to ensure accuracy, clarity, and continual improvement
    • Assume an ownership stake in the ongoing evolution and operation of the facility Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Audit CMMS work-orders, equipment history records, and schedules to help maintain 100% accuracy in documentation
    • Assist with the development, continued-improvement, and enforcement of Data Center standards and policies
    • Assist the CFM/ACFM to manage assigned workflow tasks in order to provide timely turnaround 
    • Maintain strict adherence to change control activities
    • Participate in facility training programs by contributing to content/expertise on a regular basis
    • Work closely with the CFM/ACFM and other key personnel on daily data center management
    • Help manage access and documentation of outside contractors
    • Ensure all vendors and customers are abiding by critical facility work rules
    • Ensure facility rounds and shift-turnover sheets are completed and filed appropriately at the beginning/end of each shift
    • Assume a lead role in managing certain aspects of the day-to-day operation (Ordering supplies, receiving and accounting for supplies, setting the training calendar, etc.)
    • Participate in construction oversight and commissioning as directed by the CFM/ACFM
    • Assist with the provisioning of new customer services (cabinets, power, fiber, other services), as required
    • Work shifts to support 24x7 data center operation, and have flexibility in work hours to cover other shifts
    • Adhere to all federal, state, and local safety laws
    • Complete other such duties consistent with your role as you may be assigned by T5FM management

Education or Equivalent Experience

    • High school degree, required
    • Prior military or technical school training, preferred
    • 3+ years’ experience in Mission Critical Environments, preferred
    • Electrical or mechanical licensure, preferred
