Tala is seeking an experienced and talented lawyer to manage and execute Tala’s global licensing strategy and partnership structures.  At Tala, we’re working to improve the financial lives of millions of underserved people by creating new, accessible financial services around the world. We are a global team with diverse backgrounds who are singularly focused on using technology, data, and a customer-centric approach to meet the financial needs of the emerging middle class.

What you'll do

    • Analyzing Tala’s global licensing strategy and partnerships
    • Developing and advising on new structures to help Tala advance its mission and expand its product offerings 
    • Negotiating partnership arrangements
    • Managing and mentoring the in-country legal teams in our operating markets
    • Reviewing service agreements and assisting with employment issues
    • Managing outside counsel
    • Assisting the Deputy General Counsel with special projects from time to time


    • A demonstrated passion for Tala’s mission
    • Strong sense of ownership and ability to thrive in a startup environment
    • 6+ years legal experience in related field
    • A law degree with a bar association in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
    • Experience working with FinTech and financial services companies 
    • In-house legal experience (preferred)
    • Management experience (preferred) 
    • Experience with the laws of Mexico and India (preferred)
