We are looking for an exceptional lead content designer to join our Experience Design team. Content design is at the heart of our design process and you'll work side-by-side with product designers, product managers, engineers, and researchers to shape the future of Tala products.

In this role you will lead the content design practice by defining and activating content design principles, leading key initiatives, and delivering remarkable experiences. You’ll shape and influence Tala’s overall product content direction and strategy and will report directly to our VP, Product Design & Research. You’ll own and lead the most complex content projects and influence senior stakeholders across the business.

You're an ideal candidate if you're just as happy supporting the big-picture strategy and setting standards, as you are helping to mentor and support others and being a champion for the content design culture. You’ll do your best work in an environment that requires proactive and independent self-direction, as much as collaboration and open communication.

You’re a designer – and words are your design language.

What you'll do:

    • Plan and write content for our mobile app experience across all touchpoints, including navigation and UI content, in-app notifications, chatbots, help, and more.
    • Transform global product requirements into a strategy for how you’ll use content to meet business goals and solve real customer problems. Use research/data to validate content approach.
    • Present your work and articulate your approach to your teammates and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with design on page layout, interactions, and visual tone.
    • Coordinate content with Brand, Marketing, and Ops teams to ensure a consistent end-to-end experience.
    • Use data and research to evaluate your content’s impact, and push for continuous improvement that shows real results.
    • Create our content standards, including style and voice-and-tone guidelines.
    • Partner with legal and compliance to make sure our products are suitable for a growing global audience.
    • Work closely with our research teams to better understand the needs of our customers.
    • Be a mentor to other designers and support overall team development.

What you'll need:

    • 8+ years working in a product design environment on consumer apps where you owned content design projects and strategy; financial services expertise is an advantage
    • Experience designing human-centered solutions using language that scales across markets and locales.
    • Experience authoring, embedding, and maintaining content standards, style guides, and voice and tone guidelines.
    • Champion accessible and inclusive content and help others understand why it’s important.
    • Have an appetite for problem solving in a landscape that changes quickly by improving and implementing efficient processes and collaborative ways of working.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, set stakeholder expectations, work individually, and collaborate across the globe.
    • A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to write clear, concise content for a range of content types and product experiences and showcases how your work has directly impacted and improved the user experience, key product metrics or customer satisfaction scores.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • A degree in English, Communications, Design, Journalism, or other discipline that emphasizes storytelling and critical thinking.
    • Previous experience working with Figma; creating content components is an advantage.
