Quality Control Associate - Localization

Tapas Entertainment is seeking a Quality Control Associate based in California with the ability to travel to the Los Angeles office space 3 days per week.  Reporting to the Narrative Arts Lead, this individual will assist in developing multiple webcomic and webnovel localization projects, bringing them through production, and ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule for digital distribution.

Responsibilities:

    • Source editing and quality control contractors for webcomic projects and serve as liaison between said contractors and internal teams
    • Be the subject matter expert for English linguistic standards within our localized web comics and web novels. This includes owning the workflow and tools and ensuring all content meets a high level of quality
    • Adapt processes and procedures to ensure adherence to Tapas’ quality standards
    • Adjust and develop guidelines, documentation, and resources
    • Support the day-to-day workload including but not limited to reviewing and editing localized works
    • Provide regular feedback to freelance team members
    • Be well-read in the Tapas library and work with marketing to select new titles to recommend to users
    • Monitor localization production and escalate any potential issues
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Localization management

Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2+ years of editorial experience, ideally with webcomics
    • Minimum 1 year of people as well as project management experience, ideally working with a large team of freelancers
    • Commitment to building a positive work culture and fostering collaboration
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to articulately present to stakeholders outside the team and organization
    • Strict adherence to deadlines, and advance planning to allocate resources efficiently
    • A love of storytelling and a respect for the storytellers whose work we are helping to share

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with CMS and digital platforms such as Slack and Dropbox directly related to publishing workflows and content lifecycle management
    • A passion for webcomics is a big plus, as is a love for our storytelling community and Action Fantasy/Romance Fantasy/LGBTQ+ genres.
$60,000 - $70,000 a year
The salary range stated above is determined by role, level, and location referenced in the job posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, skill sets, and organizational needs. Tapas Entertainment expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Only in exceptional circumstances where a candidate has experience and expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position would Tapas Entertainment consider paying a salary near the higher end of the range.
