The Family Services Therapist (FST) is accountable to the Clinical Director or designee; however, is expected to work effectively with all program managers, coordinators, and staff throughout the agency. This position requires meeting with children and families where they are including in-home, school- and community-based settings.

The FST must work in collaboration with all staff and treatment team members including families. The FST is responsible for working in partnership with families to conduct intake, psychosocial assessment, triage, safety planning, care coordination, community support, skills development, therapeutic activities, and plan of care development/monitoring in the Family Services Program.

Minimum Pre-Employment Requirements and Qualifications

    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • Holds current New Mexico License in good standing: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, LPAT, LMHC, or LMSW;
    • At least 2 years prior experience working with severely emotionally disturbed (SED) children and their family members;
    • Additional minimum staff education and experience required: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in a human services related field plus 1 year of experience working with serious emotional disturbance (SED) children and families; or
    • Associate degree in a human services related field plus 2 years of experience working with SED children and families; or,
    • High School Diploma or General Education Development plus 3 years of experience working with SED children and families; or,
    • Completed training for certification as a Certified Peer or Family Specialist approved by the State of New Mexico.
    • Receipt of a Certificate of Completion certifying 20 hours of CCSS training or Provisional Certificate of Completion certifying 18 hours of CCSS training, approved by the State of New Mexico.
    • Obtained a Criminal Records Clearance (local, state, and FBI) from the Children Youth & Families Department (CYFD).
    • Has current certifications in Adult, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid.
    • Has and continues to maintain a clean driving record and active auto insurance coverage.

Additional Skills / Requirements

    • Has demonstrated the ability to consistently establish and maintain positive, healthy relationships and boundaries while working effectively and cooperatively with clients, families, colleagues, staff, and community members.
    • Has a thorough knowledge and use of community resources.  
    • Must be computer literate in order to effectively maintain compliance with state and federal standards and requirements for use of computerized client assessments, data systems, etc. 
    • Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish
$25 - $40 an hour
Rates are for W2 employees. Contract rates are available for independently licensed clinicians. Pay is dependent on years of licensed clinical practice as a clinical social worker or mental health counselor. Clinical supervision and training is provided to all clinicians regardless of licensure status. Individual supervision and professional training opportunities are a key component of our staff development.
