About the team

The Payments team is integral to the success of the company. They build software solutions so their customers can buy their products seamlessly, helping them throughout their purchasing journey. They are in the process of maturing their payment infrastructure, including splitting out microservices, and preparing to scale up to match their growth plans. They operate in a very dynamic and rewarding environment, where they work closely with their stakeholders to find the best solutions for both the business and their potential customers. Their agile, cross functional teams use continuous delivery and regular feedback to ensure they deliver value to their customers on a daily basis.

You'll be

    • An experienced backend engineer, who is comfortable working across both the Front End and Back End.
    • Actively helping others grow through mentoring and close collaboration.
    • Comfortable collaborating with stakeholders and product managers to ensure they deliver exceptional value to both the business and our customers.
    • Working in a self-organising team with high levels of trust and collaboration. They believe in empowering our engineers to lead initiatives.
    • Leading by example to ensure their engineering solutions are scalable, maintainable, testable and follow best practices.
    • Helping the team operate effectively by breaking problems down into simpler ones for fast delivery and impact.
    • Are someone who strives to keep their code clean, tests complete and functional, and their releases frequent.
    • Someone who loves the challenge of designing an architecture that remains performant as they scale.
    • Dealing with high levels of ambiguity. It's imperative that you can perform under these conditions. They have a fast feedback loop with their customers, to ensure they are continuously learning and improving.
    • Someone who enjoys working in an incredibly supportive environment with cross-functional teams.

We think you'll be great if you

    • Have experience of building great APIs. Any language would do.
    • Believe in outcome over output. As such, they prefer a "technology agnostic" mindset that's aimed to get the job done - whatever tool is required.
    • Have a proactive personality with a passion for software engineering and Software Craftsmanship.
    • Have an experimentation mindset. They prefer to rapidly test ideas with their customers to ensure they are building a product their customers love.
    • Are happy to work in a diverse work environment where they celebrate differences and build upon each other positively.

Interview Process

    • Intro to company with a Talent Partner (30 mins)
    • Video call with one of their Engineers or Engineering Managers (30mins)
    • Code Review (60 mins) & Systems Design (60 mins)
    • As part of this stage, they will ask you to teach them something technical asynchronously (text or video) to assess your ability to go in-depth and communicate
    • Behavioural interviews (30 mins) with an Engineering Manager, followed by a meet with their VP of Engineering (30 mins)
