Summary 

We are looking for a Lead Product Designer with a desire to build leadership and people management chops to join a groundbreaking legal tech company based in London.
They are the world’s leading legal rankings and insights intelligence company and have spent over 30 years, differentiating the very best legal talent by identifying and ranking law firms and lawyers globally.

Reporting to the CPO, you will be the first Lead Product Designer in a diverse product design and user research team of 5. You'll work day to day in a multidisciplinary product team, partner with product managers, engineers, user research and product marketing to define the vision, the design strategy and iteratively execute against that.
This is a player-coach role, so you'll also be directly line-managing one product designer to begin with. As well as a love of your craft, we expect you to get excited about mentoring and helping more junior designers advance in their career too.

What you'll focus on

    • Working hands-on in your product team as well as leading and supporting user experience design across another.
    • You will be responsible for making sure all design work across this area meets user needs and drives towards business OKRs.
    • Helping build a mature product design function and shape an environment where every designer can learn and grow.

Main responsibilities

    • Proactively identify and address problems to be solved, influence the product vision through your understanding of user needs
    • Design simple, elegant but impactful end-to-end experiences that improve the way customers interact with the product
    • Partner with PMs, engineers, other designers and stakeholders across the company to deliver products and features from conception to launch - Own and lead the ideation, design and validation phases
    • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationales verbally and visually to a variety of audiences (team members, your product team, stakeholders, execs, company-wide)
    • Own the success or failure of your design work, autonomously validate your design solutions qualitatively and quantitatively, measure success and initiate improvements
    • Constantly seek and respectfully provide design feedback
    • Manage one direct report to begin with, support their day-to-day, help them grow their skills and shape their career
