About the team

The Growth and Payments team is integral to the growth of their product and the success of the company. They build software solutions to guide potential customers from initial curiosity about the company and their health, all the way to purchase. They do this by offering them insights on the science behind the products and the way it can change their lives. They maximise acquisition & convert prospects to customers, as well as deliver pricing that gets consumers happy to stay for a long time.

In terms of domain ownership, you will be covering a number of areas from awareness (ads, website) to Purchase (Paid social, SEO, Website, Quiz, nurture emails, Checkout), as well as Account management & Pricing & Referral schemes.

About the role

They are looking for someone to lead the team encouraging sustainable delivery at pace. You will partner with engineers, product managers and product designers to deliver great customer impact and make the company a great place to work.

You'll be

    • Leading 1 team of 3-4 engineers, focusing on outcomes over output
    • Hands-on when needed and help with code if required, as well as challenging engineers on their technical skills and contributing to technical discussions and systems design.
    • Coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing engineers. Ensuring high psychological safety
    • Partnering with their product and science teams to establish the roadmap and achieve sustainable throughput while iterating fast
    • Challenging engineers on system design, scope or sequencing to deliver faster while decreasing the technical debt. You are not afraid to dive into a very technical conversation
    • Actively tackling any bottleneck in the system, wherever they are
    • Contributing to the evolution of their architecture, tools and processes
    • Partnering with other engineering managers on cross cutting initiatives like hiring or onboarding.

We think you'll be great if you

    • Are experienced in leading a distributed full-stack team, in a fast pace environment.
    • Still consider yourself a software engineer at heart and are willing to be hands-on when required.
    • Have managed 3+ direct reports before.
    • Are someone who takes ownership and is comfortable with ambiguity.
    • Provide clarity and make things happen at pace
    • Have an appetite to work closely with their product team to test and release new ideas fast
    • Challenge teams to measure impact and demonstrate added value
    • Have great communication skills. Both verbal and in writing

We will also appreciate

    • Experience building mobile apps
    • Experience deploying machine learning in production
    • Experience with scalability (backend, data pipelines)

Interview Process

    • Intro to company with a Talent Partner (30 mins)
    • Intro with their VP of Engineering or Senior Engineering Manager (30mins).
    • Technical Interview & Systems Design (90 mins). As part of this stage, they will ask you to teach them something technical asynchronously (text or video) to assess your ability to go in-depth and communicate.
    • Behavioural interviews with a Senior Engineering manager (60mins) and VP of Engineering (60 mins).
    • Meet a senior stakeholder outside of Technology (30mins) and meet a founder (30mins).
