The Quality Manager is responsible for the overall growth, development, implementation, and execution of the site’s quality systems and staff. This role oversees the Quality Assurance (QA) program directly and provides leadership guidance to the Laboratory Supervisor, who owns day-to-day Quality Control (QC) operations. The Quality Manager ensures that manufacturing, testing, and release processes align with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer expectations. This is a key leadership role that partners closely with manufacturing, regulatory, and R&D teams to drive product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings both strategic vision and practical experience in building quality systems in regulated manufacturing environments.

Essential Functions:

    • Design, develop, and implement the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), including core elements such as change control, risk management, training, and audit readiness.
    • Maintain and continuously improve the document control system, ensuring version control, timely review/approval, training linkage, and controlled access across departments.
    • Approve SOPs, quality documentation, and product release records.
    • Own regulatory audit readiness and serve as the site representative during inspections.
    • Collaborate with operations to embed quality practices throughout the production process.
    • Investigate consumer complaints by determining root cause, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and analyzing complaint trends for process improvement.
    • Leadership of QC & Lab Operations:
    • Provide oversight and coaching to the Laboratory Supervisor managing day-to-day QC and analytical lab activities.
    • Ensure timely execution of all QC testing (raw material, in-process, and finished goods) in accordance with internal specifications and regulatory methods.
    • Review laboratory results for completeness, trends, and accuracy; support method development, instrument calibration, and validation efforts as needed.
    • Ensure QA and QC coordination for investigations, batch release, and documentation closure.
    • Training & Cross-Functional Support:
    • Develop and deliver training programs related to GMP, SOP compliance, deviation reporting, and quality culture as needed.
    • Ensure that QA and lab staff are trained, supported, and held to high performance standards.
    • Support cross-functional initiatives such as new product introduction, equipment commissioning, or process validation from a quality perspective.
    • Act as a key quality liaison across departments including operations, supply chain, and product development.
    • Provide support to QC functions as needed.
    • Continuous Improvement:
    • Define and monitor key quality metrics (e.g., first pass yield, deviation frequency, complaint rates, release timelines).
    • Analyze data to identify trends and drive root cause analysis and CAPA effectiveness.
    • Lead or contribute to projects focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
    • Benchmark industry best practices and apply scalable solutions to enhance the quality culture.

Additional Responsibilities:

    • Assist with vendor qualification, audits, and ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
