The CNE, often affectionately referred to as The Ex, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top ten agricultural fairs in North America. With something for everyone, our event offers a wide variety of attractions and interactive entertainment experiences including: concerts, midway rides and games, shopping, exhibits, tech and gaming hubs, food and wacky treats!
 
The CNE fair is a cherished tradition, attracting approximately 1.5 million visitors annually over the course of its 18-day run. Be a part of this summer tradition and help us inspire Canadians and create memories.

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile individual to join our team as a Server. In this unique role, you will engage with visitors, taking them on a journey through the exhibition, providing exceptional customer service, assisting with gallery operations, and serving food and beverages to patrons. A passion for music and art is essential, while a friendly attitude, customer engagement skills, and sales experience will be considered assets.

Responsibilities

    • Assist in delivering, setting up, and dismantling exhibits, including art handling and display preparation as required.
    • Maintain a high level of art handling and care.
    • Greet and welcome visitors, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
    • Monitor gallery spaces to ensure the safety and security of artwork and visitors.
    • Memorize information about the exhibit and provide tours to customers.
    • Provide information about music concerts, exhibits, artists, and upcoming gallery events to enhance the visitor experience.
    • Encourage customers to make purchases and subscribe to our gallery newsletter.
    • Assist visitors with inquiries, including directions, artwork details, and general information.
    • Process admission fees and maintain accurate attendance records.
    • Serve food and beverages to gallery patrons, delivering a high standard of service and attention to detail.
    • Take orders, relay them to the kitchen, and promptly and accurately deliver food and drinks.
    • Handle credit card transactions and troubleshoot occasional issues.
    • Set up and clean tables, restock supplies, and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the gallery.
    • Collaborate with the gallery team to plan and execute special events and exhibitions.
    • Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications

    • Minimum age of 18 years.
    • Smart Serve Certification is required.
    • Previous experience as a gallery attendant, server, or in customer service roles is preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with a diverse range of visitors.
    • Strong knowledge and interest in art, including the ability to discuss exhibits, concerts, music trends, musicians, and artists.
    • Exceptional customer service skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Professional and polished appearance with a positive and friendly demeanor.
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
    • Food Handler's Certificate may be required.
    • Physical ability to remain stationary for extended periods, lift and move objects up to 30 pounds, and navigate through gallery spaces.
    • Other duties as assigned.
