About Us
The CNE fair is a cherished tradition, attracting approximately 1.5 million visitors annually over the course of its 18-day run. The CNE, often affectionately referred to as The Ex, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top ten agricultural fairs in North America. With something for everyone, our event offers a wide variety of attractions and interactive entertainment experiences including: concerts, midway rides and games, shopping, exhibits, tech and gaming hubs, food and wacky treats!

About Withrow Common Gallery
 Operated by the Canadian National Exhibition Association (CNEA), Withrow Common Gallery is an art and community exhibition space located inside the historic Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Place in Toronto, right across from the Princess Margaret Fountain.
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Gallery Curator, the Gallery Attendant will be primarily responsible for ensuring a positive guest experience and ensuring the safety/security of the artwork.

Responsibilities

    • Greet all visitors warmly and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere in the gallery
    • Provide helpful and knowledgeable information about current exhibitions and featured artists
    • Answer questions and engage in friendly conversation about the gallery’s programs and history
    • Become familiar with general CNE programming and know where to direct visitors with questions or inquiries
    • Monitor visitor flow and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for all
    • Support accessibility by offering assistance to guests with specific needs
    • Promote upcoming events, workshops, and exhibitions in a positive and engaging way
    • Handle customer inquiries and concerns with patience and professionalism
    • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the gallery space at all times
    • Uphold gallery policies in a respectful, guest-friendly manner
    • Assist with setup and takedown for events, workshops, and special programming as needed
    • Perform all other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications

    • Available to work all 18 days of the fair, from August 15th to September 1st 
    • Available to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends
    • Able to attend mandatory Orientation Session and Job Specific Training
    • You are reliable, enthusiastic and have a friendly disposition
    • You enjoy interacting with others and possess excellent communication skills
    • Able to work with minimal supervision and have good judgement
    • Previous customer service or museum/gallery experience is a plus

Special Conditions

    • Ability to remain standing or in stationary position for extended periods of time
    • Comfortable working in busy high traffic area
