Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Guest Services, you will be working within the Guest Services department and supervising approximately 125 staff forming the CNE’s volunteer program. Our volunteers'staff each of our entry gates and provide event information to guests who are entering the Fair. Volunteers are also asked to provide support to other departments during the event.
Responsibilities
- Determine staffing requirements for the 18-day volunteer program
- Prepare program collateral material required for recruiting
- Coordinate scheduling of, and conduct volunteer Interviews
- Attend Job Fairs and other community events to promote the program
- Prepare acceptance information package for volunteers
- Coordinate ordering of volunteer uniforms
- Prepare schedule, and deliver training materials for volunteers
- Prepare and maintain volunteer schedules
- Provide leadership, assistance, and coaching to volunteers
- Ensure CNE policies and procedures are followed, including those related to maintaining a safe work environment
- Coordinate volunteers thank you BBQ
- Prepare and distribute volunteer certificates
- Complete volunteer evaluations
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership skills

- Experience supervising staff (preferred)
- Proven organization and time management skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience handling complaints (preferred)

- Ability to work up to and including Labour Day Monday
- Flexibility to work, days, evenings, and/or weekends during the event, as required
Special Conditions
- Ability to navigate throughout entirety of CNE grounds
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in all weather conditions (sun, heat, wind, cold, rain)
- May be required to dress in appropriate uniform
