SUMMARY
The Director of E-commerce and Marketplaces will oversee all aspects of the company’s DTC e-commerce
operations and marketplace presence, driving sales, optimizing customer experience, and ensuring
operational excellence. This role is responsible for leading strategies across marketing, PPC, Google Ads,
budgeting, inventory planning, SEO, SEM, UX, email marketing, SMS marketing, website performance,
compliance, and security. The ideal candidate is a data-driven leader with deep expertise in DTC apparel e-
commerce, a proven track record of scaling digital platforms, and the ability to manage cross-functional
teams and external partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy to drive revenue growth, customer
acquisition, and retention across DTC websites and marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Target).
Lead a team of marketing, tech, and customer experience professionals, fostering collaboration and
accountability to achieve business goals.
Collaborate with executives to align e-commerce initiatives with company objectives and financial
targets.
Monitor industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive
edge in the DTC apparel market.
Marketing and Customer Acquisition
Oversee digital marketing strategies, including PPC (Google Ads, Meta Ads), SEO, and SEM, to
maximize traffic and conversions.
Direct content strategies to ensure brand consistency across all digital touchpoints, including
website, social media, and marketplaces.
Analyze campaign performance using KPIs (e.g., ROAS, CAC, conversion rates) and optimize
marketing spend for efficiency.
Budgeting and Inventory Planning
Develop and manage the e-commerce budget, allocating resources across marketing, technology,
and operations to achieve revenue targets.
Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to forecast inventory needs, ensuring optimal
stock levels for seasonal apparel demand.Monitor financial performance, including gross margins and operational costs, to ensure profitability
and scalability.
Website Performance and User Experience (UX)
Oversee the DTC website (e.g., Shopify or similar platform) to ensure optimal performance, fast load
times, and mobile responsiveness.
Drive UX improvements, including site navigation, checkout processes, and personalization, to
reduce cart abandonment and boost conversions.
Monitor website analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) to track metrics like bounce rate, session duration,
and customer journey flow.
Compliance and Security
Ensure website compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards
for e-commerce.
Oversee implementation of security measures, including SSL certificates, secure payment gateways,
and fraud prevention tools, to protect customer data.
Coordinate with legal and tech teams to maintain PCI compliance and address emerging security
risks.
Marketplace Management
Develop and execute strategies for third-party marketplaces, optimizing product listings, pricing, and
promotions to drive sales.
Monitor marketplace performance metrics and adjust strategies to compete effectively in apparel
categories.
Manage relationships with marketplace partners and ensure compliance with platform policies.
Technology and Integrations
Oversee the integration of e-commerce tools and apps (e.g., CRM, analytics, personalization) to
enhance functionality and customer experience.
Work with tech specialists to troubleshoot issues, implement updates, and maintain a seamless
digital ecosystem.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, or a related e-commerce
experience
Experience:
o4 + years of experience in e-commerce, with at least 2 years in a leadership role for a DTC
apparel or fashion brand.
oProven track record of scaling DTC websites and marketplaces.
oDeep expertise in digital marketing (PPC, SEO, SEM), email/SMS marketing, and UX
optimization.
oExperience managing budgets, inventory planning, and cross-functional teams.Skills:
oStrong analytical skills, with proficiency in tools like Google Analytics, Shopify, Klaviyo, and
advertising platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads).
oExpertise in website performance optimization, compliance, and security best practices.
oExceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage internal teams
and external partners.
oData-driven decision-making with a focus on ROI and customer-centric outcomes.
Preferred:
oExperience with marketplace platforms (e.g., Amazon, Target) in the apparel category.
oFamiliarity with inventory management systems and supply chain coordination.
oKnowledge of emerging e-commerce technologies, such as AI-driven personalization or AR
try-on features.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
