We aim to make travel easier and more accessible, encouraging people to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices. We’re hugely proud to be the world’s leading independent rail and coach travel platform and rank among the highest-rated travel and ticketing apps globally. In another major milestone, Trainline listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2019 and is now part of the FTSE 250.
Our culture is central to our success. We’re driven to sustain our phenomenal growth from recent years, and this means we’re always working closely and collaboratively to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, innovating and improving pretty much everything we do, that makes Trainline so exciting and unique - we truly believe our work has a genuine impact and will change travel for the better.
Purpose of the Role
In this key, business facing role, you’ll be responsible for preparation, reporting and commentary on P&L costs for the Marketing function as well as other General Overheads for the Group (including Corporate Finance, Sustanability and Workplace). Bringing strong business partnering skills and a confidence in presenting financial information to senior non-finance staff, you’ll provide meaningful insight to help the business track against its budget and forecasts. In addition, you’ll input into the monthly management accounts, and will use your broader business knowledge to provide meaningful commentary, performance analysis and explanations of significant variances to budget at a level of detail and tone appropriate for the Board.
As a visible member of the Finance team, you’ll be first port-of-call for queries relating to costs from a range of stakeholders across the business. This will include collaborating with teams based in London, Edinburgh and Paris to investigate problems and explore solutions. You’ll also be helping to support and mentor other junior team members in this large yet close knit team.
Our ever-expanding business changes by the day. With this comes a wealth of ad-hoc projects and process improvements we’ll seek your involvement in. As such, we’re looking for someone with initiative who can recognise and act on these opportunities for change and is keen to get involved with new projects to help the business and broaden their own knowledge.
