The Role

An exciting opportunity to lead our Edinburgh financial accounting team. Focusing on end to end control around our cash receipt, rail settlement, treasury and variable cost processes covering both our UK and International businesses. The ideal candidate will have great initiative and be able to consider ‘the big picture’. Brilliant prioritisation and being seen as a supportive manager will be absolutely key.

The role will lead a team of 6 people and report to the Head of Finance, also based in Edinburgh. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a dynamic leader who has the ability to work autonomously as well as closely with others.

Day-to-day financial management and control is naturally a core aspect of the role, but we are looking for someone who offers that extra bit more - someone who is able to stand back and assess the impact of commercial changes from an accounting perspective and consider what the impact will be. On the back of this, you will bring ideas about what ‘good’ looks like in terms of process, and seek opportunity to automate wherever you can supported by our data teams.

In our fast paced business, we add new revenue streams and suppliers all the time. As such, you will need to be able to build excellent relationships outside of finance to be able to identify changes before they happen, and build best in class processes to deal with these changes.

You will also be the core finance business partner for our payments and customer services teams staying close to the pulse of what is changing in the ecomm landscape, and delivering the best service to our customers. Acting as the key finance contact with these teams, you will help them deliver the financial information they need to do a brilliant job.

On one typical day, you may be leading the team through the month end close, helping troubleshoot problems and identifying areas for future improvement of processes. The next, you may be working with one of our Edinburgh-based data specialists to help automate processes. Working in a rapidly growing business like ours, there is always a new challenge and opportunities to develop your skill set and turn your hand to new things.
