We are searching for an experienced Analyst to join our Marketing measurement and reporting function. The full Analytics team consists of 11 roles and our goal is to embed smarter, more sophisticated, data-driven decisions across Trainline to help steer an already fast-growing business to even greater success. We dig deeper, we think insight not numbers, we articulate complexity clearly and with confidence. Our role is as a decision-making partner to business leadership, not simply to supply numbers.
This role will partner with the Marketing teams to evaluate and optimise their campaigns and messaging delivery. Working in a team of 3, the successful candidate will look to scale and refine our measurement capabilities, and feed results back into the operations of the channels, as well as the planning process for budget setting. They will also work with the wider Finance team to ensure business objectives are met in the most effective and efficient way possible.
Maintain and evolve our analytics framework of Customer Engagement programmes (CRM, App messaging) through holdout/incrementality measurement
-Working with Data Sci-ence and Marketing technology partners to help deliver scalable, accurate and automated methodologies for measurement and reporting
-Working with Marketing teams to deploy tests for actionable insights with robust measurement methodology
Scaling our holdout/incrementality testing capabilities to accurately evaluate returns to spend on our core marketing activities (PPC, App Stores, Brand Marketing, Display, Social)
-Working with our Data Science and Marketing technology partners to help deliver scalable and accurate methodologies
-Working with Marketing teams to deploy tests which minimise operational disruption whilst maximising actionable insight
Ensuring measurement results are translated into real business impact, both through budget allocation and operational changes
-Working with channel owners to design measurement solutions with real practical outputs in terms of spend level optimisation to maximise value for Trainline
-Delivering optimisation recommendations to channel owners based on pockets of strong performance
Holding the business to account on core Marketing objectives
-Ensuring accurate and insightful reporting is in place to manage the business
-Delivering insights to help with allocation decisions, and giving guidance on potential areas of improvement
-Helping to set and monitor operational KPIs which align with wider goals and guide the business to success
Knowledge & Experience
Background / Experience
-University degree or equivalent, preferably in a quantitative field (such as economics, mathematics, engineering, finance etc.)
-At least 3 years of analytical experience; at least 2 years in ecommerce or marketing evaluation
-Experience in Customer analytics applied to a commercial environment is a strong plus
-Ability to distil and communicate results of complex analysis clearly and effectively to all levels including senior management
-Navigating imperfect data sets and complexity/ambiguity of analysis to derive clear insights and actionable results
-Experience of Marketing/Customer engagement evaluation and measurement of success/ROI
-Good working knowledge & experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL, BigQuery)
-Extensive and proven experience using SQL to extract insight and recommendations from data
-Preference for experience in R, Python or similar for advanced analytics
-Excellent Excel skills; good PowerPoint skills
-Strong data visualisation skills also a plus (tools like Tableau, R shiny, Java)
-Working knowledge of accessing and manipulating data from API is a plus
