Purpose of the Role
We are searching for an experienced Analyst to join our Customer Marketing Analytics function. The full Analytics team consists of 11 members and our goal is to embed smarter, more sophisticated, data-driven decisions across Trainline to help steer an already fast-growing business to even greater success.  We dig deeper, we think insight not numbers, we articulate complexity clearly and with confidence.  Our role is as a decision-making partner to business leadership, not simply to supply numbers.
This role will partner with the Marketing teams optimise our end to end customer experience.  Working in a team of 2, the successful candidate will investigate patterns in customer behaviour and help it improve our delivery across CRM, App marketing, Organic Search and the site experience itself.  They will also work with the wider Finance team to ensure business objectives are met in the most effective and efficient way possible.
The role is based in London; potential travel to our other key offices in Paris/Edinburgh

-Scaling our Customer data and insights to deliver a more tailored, relevant experience, and help to drive value through improved acquisition, retention, and reactivation of our users
-Working with our Data Science and Marketing technology partners to help deliver insightful and relevant customer reporting
-Working with Marketing and Product teams to deploy tests which deliver real value to end users and generate value to Trainline as a result
 -Ensuring results are translated into real business impact, through external marketing, customer engagement and on-site experience
-Working with channel/product owners to understand behaviour patterns and drive relevant test and learn plans
-Delivering measurement solutions to maximise the pace of this improvement, and find new areas of opportunity
-Holding the business to account on core Marketing objectives
-Ensuring accurate and insightful reporting is in place to manage the business
-Delivering insights to help with allocation decisions, and giving guidance on potential areas of improvement
-Helping to set and monitor operational KPIs which align with wider goals and guide the business to success
Knowledge & Experience
A successful candidate will have:
Background / Experience
-University degree or equivalent, preferably in a quantitative field (such as economics, mathematics, engineering, finance etc.)
-At least 3 years of analytical experience; at least 2 years in ecommerce or marketing evaluation
-Ability to distil and communicate results of complex analysis clearly and effectively to senior management
-Navigating imperfect data sets and complexity/ambiguity of analysis to derive clear insights and actionable results
-Experience of Customer and/or Marketing Analytics (including attribution tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics etc.)
-Good working knowledge & experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL)
-Extensive and proven experience using SQL to extract insight and recommendations from data
-Preference for experience in R, Python or similar for advanced analytics
-Excellent Excel skills; good PowerPoint skills
-Strong data visualisation skills also a plus (tools like Tableau, R shiny, Java)
