Introducing the Platform Delivery organisation 👋 
The Platform Delivery team cover all areas of infrastructure, reliability, platform and operations engineering across public cloud and data centres; Linux builds, deployment & management, CDN configuration, load balancing, PKI and a variety of other technologies that combine to provide the Platform for all other teams to use. 

The Core Infrastructure & Ops (CIAO) team are responsible for monitoring and managing the infrastructure across the entire Trainline estate (including datacentres, offices, and Cloud providers).  
 
The Infrastructure Engineering team within CIAO consists of 3 engineers specialising in all areas of On-prem and Cloud infrastructure management. Breakfix and BAU Support of the infrastructure running critical path-to-production & production services are key elements of the role, as well as delivering new functionality and projects that underpin the platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Infrastructure technologies and be able to apply this knowledge to the tooling we currently have as well as any new future technologies. 

Responsibilities

    • Windows OSE Deployments to all Infrastructure Platforms including vSphere and AWS EC2 
    • Operational support for all Windows Server OS and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Related Issues 
    • Operational day to day Maintenance of Multiple Large Server Environments 
    • Supporting the Project Delivery of Infrastructure Roadmap 
    • You will participate in an On-Call schedule to ensure that our systems are supported 24x7. 
    • You will work with others in Operational Support Teams as well as Developers to find solutions to problems, answer questions and contribute to products that make journeys easier for our customers everyday 

Knowledge & Experience

    • Proven experience of Windows Server management and support 
    • Experience of Cloud / Virtualisation Infrastructure Management 
    • Experience of using automation / scripting (Powershell, Python, etc..)
    • Minimum of 3 years IT experience with at demonstrable interest in Cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS (Azure, GCP).  
    • Experience of working in an operations environment and providing technical operational support 

Tech skills

    • Windows administrator and management skills, ideally in an Enterprise environment using scripting (PowerShell) for basis and repetitive tasks 
    • Knowledge of Cloud technologies is desirable, specifically AWS, Azure 
    • Familiar with the ‘BAU’ tasks that are required to manage a large server estate 
    • MS Server stack: Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, Exchange & SCOM 
    • Infrastructure Stack: HPE Servers, IBM SAN, vSphere, Purestorage  
    • Understanding of CI/CD Tooling and IaC (ie Terraform) 
    • Working knowledge of Identity platforms ie AD /Azure AD / IAM 
    • DNS Management 
    • Certificate / PKI management 
    • vSphere configuration and administration
