That’s more than £3.7 billion in ticket sales annually, and over 90 million visits to our apps and websites each month. In another major milestone, Trainline listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2019 and is now part of the FTSE 250.

Our culture is central to our success. We’re driven to sustain our phenomenal growth from recent years, and this means we’re always working closely and collaboratively to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, innovating and improving pretty much everything we do, that makes Trainline so exciting and unique - we truly believe our work has a genuine impact and will change travel for the better.

The role will include…

As Group Reporting Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading our technical reporting function and running our external audit process at a very exciting time for Trainline following our IPO in 2019. As our subject matter expert on all things balance sheet and IFRS related, you’ll manage a small team directly as well as  having a dotted line to a team of c.15 people who will input into the audit and reporting process which you will lead.

We’re proud of the talent within our world class Finance team, and the influence it has in driving our business agenda. To this end, you’ll need to be someone who thinks outside the box with a thirst for learning as you’ll need to bring strong business acumen and an ability to consider the commercial impacts of any financial decisions, particularly around cashflow and working capital management. An analytical mindset will be key in this role, and you’ll need to be a confident communicator who is able to clearly and simply convey the impact and reasoning of accounting treatments to senior non-financial stakeholders.

Our ever-expanding business changes by the day. As such, you’ll operate on the front foot and will regularly be in touch with both the financial leadership team and operational side of our business. From here will come opportunities to get involved with a range of fascinating one off projects broadening and enriching your role beyond the usual scope of a group reporting position, and you will regularly partner with other cross-functional areas of our business as well as the Senior Finance team to support our exciting growth agenda.

This is a truly career defining role for someone passionate about both the technical and business sides of Finance looking for an opportunity to play an important part in a highly rated, growing team. In return for your hard work, we’ll provide you with lots of opportunity for progression across the breadth of Finance as you play your part in disrupting and defining a product that is changing the way we travel and inspiring millions people all over the world to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices every day.

The right candidate will be…

    • A qualified ACA accountant with 3-6 years’ PQE
    • Currently working in a big four or top ten practice, or have moved into industry post practice within a technical role
    • An excellent project manager with experience in managing large teams to deadlines
    • An expert in working with UK listed companies, strong in IFRS experience and with a sound technical grounding
    • Used to researching and implementing new accounting and reporting standards
    • Experienced in reviewing financial information from both a technical and analytical standpoint
    • Ambitious and driven, used to working in a fast-paced environment – we’re looking for someone who will put their hand up to be involved with team projects and be unafraid to try new things
    • Grounded and at their best rolling your sleeves up and working autonomously as well as able to work effectively as part of a team and deliver through others
    • A creative big thinker with a small ego to help achieve our ambitious plans
